Our verdict on Spur AMS
Spur AMS is a K–12 absence-management system for districts coordinating staff absences, substitute coverage, time records, and payroll handoff. Staff can submit absences through the web, phone, or app, while automatic dispatch works through ranked escalation tiers. Substitute pools can be ranked by ratings, fill counts, and accept rates, and the dedicated Spur Sub mobile app supports one-tap acceptance. The platform also covers attendance, approvals, reporting, and HRIS export, making it a fit for mid-market and enterprise districts that want these workflows in one system.
The published plans use different commercial paths. Staffing partners receive the full platform with no limits, waived onboarding, and free access for the life of the staffing agreement. The Standalone plan provides software only, with a $500 base fee, a published price cap of $19,000, and waived onboarding. Large district includes everything in Standalone plus SSO and SIS integration, named support, and an uptime commitment; it is still free with a staffing contract. Setup, migration, and training are included, which can reduce the initial implementation workload.
Its strongest functional area is the connection between dispatch and administrative follow-through. Assignments can trigger text and push notifications, escalation continues when jobs remain unfilled, and fill-rate, absence-trend, and absence-reason reports can be exported as PDFs.
