Sovri is a GitHub pull-request review bot for regulated organizations that want AI-assisted code review on their own infrastructure. It analyzes pull-request diffs with a configured large language model, then posts walkthroughs and inline findings. The Community edition is Apache 2.0 licensed, self-hosted, and free. Its focus is narrow and clear: teams using GitHub that need control over model configuration, review evidence, and deployment location.

The published plans show two deployment paths. Community provides self-hosting and bring-your-own LLM provider configuration, while Cloud adds managed infrastructure in the European Union, SSO, multi-tenancy, billing, and an audit log. The separate LLM provider requirement matters for Community deployments because associated provider costs may apply. Cloud is the better fit for organizations that want managed operation and administrative controls; Community suits teams able to operate the review service and configure their own provider.

Sovri’s strongest technical scope is its review and evidence layer. It combines LLM-based diff analysis with severity thresholds and repository ignore patterns, alongside security and correctness findings mapped to known CWEs. SARIF 2.1.0 ingestion and cross-tool deduplication help bring scanner output into the same finding workflow. Finding provenance includes the model, prompt digest, and hosting region, while OpenTelemetry traces, logs, metrics, and a Prometheus metrics endpoint support observability. GitHub-only coverage and the maintainers’ pre-alpha description make it less suitable for teams needing broader code-host support or a more mature production signal. Choose Sovri for self-hosted GitHub review with provenance controls; consider an alternative if platform breadth or maturity is the priority.

Sovri pros and cons

  • Where it wins
    • Apache 2.0 Community edition supports self-hosted deployment
    • Findings include CWE mapping, SARIF ingestion, and cross-tool deduplication
    • Provenance records model, prompt digest, and hosting region
  • Where it doesn't
    • Currently described by maintainers as pre-alpha
    • Supports GitHub as its code host
    • Community users must configure an LLM provider separately
