Our verdict on SmartUI

SmartUI is TestMu AI’s visual regression testing product for development and QA teams that need to compare interfaces across browsers, devices, viewports, operating systems, and document formats. It supports web, iOS, Android, and API workflows, with SDKs and CLI tooling for Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Puppeteer, Appium, XCUITest, and Espresso. Its scope suits teams managing visual checks across multiple frameworks rather than projects focused on a single browser or application surface.

The Free plan provides a lifetime allowance of 2,000 screenshots, one month of build history, cross-browser visual testing, responsive visual testing, and AI-based visual image comparison. The SmartUI Visual Regression plan costs $199 per month with annual billing and adds unlimited visual regression testing minutes, one year of build history, advanced comparison options, Smart Build Sequencing, GitHub pull-request checks, and CI/CD integrations. Enterprise adds advanced access controls, single sign-on, IP whitelisting, private-hosted application testing, advanced data retention rules, and a dedicated device cloud. The plan structure makes the free tier suitable for evaluation or smaller visual test volumes, while the paid tier is aimed at teams that need longer history and continuous pipeline coverage.

SmartUI’s strongest distinction is breadth combined with AI-assisted review. Git-aware baseline branching and merging, dynamic-region masking, Smart Ignore, visual review and approval statuses, PDF testing, and Figma-to-live-interface comparison cover more than standard browser screenshot checks. Integrations include Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, CircleCI, Bitbucket, GitHub, Jira, and Slack. Teams should choose SmartUI when cross-platform coverage, pull-request workflows, and varied interface formats matter. Projects needing only a small, narrowly scoped visual test suite may find the $199 annual-billing tier harder to justify.
