Our verdict on Sigma Computing
Sigma Computing is a cloud-native business intelligence and analytics platform for business teams, analysts, and data professionals. Its spreadsheet-style workbooks support data analysis alongside dashboards, interactive visualizations, reports, data modeling, governed metrics, and natural-language questions. The platform is aimed at organizations that want business users to work with connected cloud warehouses while keeping analytics within a governed environment.
Pricing is handled through contact sales, and there is no free plan. A seven-day free trial is available. The platform runs on the web and provides an API, with direct connections to Snowflake, Databricks, Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, AlloyDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Starburst, Azure SQL Database, SQL Server, and ClickHouse. This makes Sigma a fit for teams whose warehouse already sits within that ecosystem. Workbook data refresh scheduling and scheduled report and workbook exports support recurring reporting workflows, while embedded analytics extends Sigma into web applications.
Its strongest distinction is the combination of spreadsheet-style analysis and enterprise-oriented controls. Row-level and column-level security, governed metrics, secure embedding, input tables, and data writeback cover more than dashboard viewing alone. AI-assisted and natural-language queries add another way to explore connected warehouse data. Teams should consider Sigma when they want flexible workbook analysis without maintaining a separate extract-based analytics store. Smaller buyers or teams seeking transparent self-serve pricing, a continuing free plan, or a non-cloud deployment model may prefer an alternative.
