Our verdict on Red5 Pro
Red5 Pro is a self-hosted live streaming server platform for developers and organizations building low-latency video applications. It supports web, desktop, mobile, API and self-hosted environments, with native SDKs for Linux, Windows, macOS, iOS and Android. Its protocol coverage includes RTMP, RTSP, HLS, SRT, WebRTC, Zixi, MPEG-TS and MOQ, making it suited to teams that need control over streaming architecture rather than a managed multistream destination service.
Pricing is structured around deployment scale and capability. Developer Pro costs $29.99 per month on monthly billing and includes low-latency live streaming, live recordings and Video on Demand. Startup costs $119 monthly and adds autoscaling, while Growth Pro costs $299 monthly and adds transcoding and a private Slack channel. Annual billing displays Developer Pro at $29.99 per month, Startup at $109 per month and Growth Pro at $279 per month. Enterprise costs $3,499 monthly and adds offline deployments, transcoding, 24/7 support and phone support. Mobile SDKs are a separate $419-per-month plan covering iOS, Android and Linux SDKs for one launched project. A 30-day free trial is available, but there is no free plan.
The standout strength is breadth for custom streaming systems: server-side transcoding, adaptive bitrate variants, recording, VOD recording, push, pull and listen restreaming modes, server and restreamer APIs, and autoscaling across major cloud providers. Integrations include AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, Linode, DigitalOcean, Oracle Cloud, PubNub and Zixi. Red5 Pro fits teams that can manage self-hosted or cloud infrastructure and need protocol flexibility, APIs and application SDKs. Organizations seeking a simpler managed destination service or a free starting tier should choose a different type of streaming product.
