Our verdict on Rebind
Rebind is a desktop programmable input layer for keyboards and mice on Windows, macOS, and Linux. It is aimed at solo users and small to mid-market teams that need more than basic key reassignment, including per-application profiles, timed input sequences, text expansion, sensitivity workflows, and scripted transformations. The free Rebind Engine works with existing USB peripherals in software mode, while the optional Rebind Link adds hardware-oriented output through a dedicated device. This makes Rebind a fit for advanced automation across desktop applications and games, rather than for users seeking only simple remapping.
The pricing is split between the free Rebind Engine and the paid Rebind Link. Engine includes a Luau scripting runtime, keyboard and mouse remapping, macros, HTTP and WebSocket support, RebindGPT, and support for all three listed desktop operating systems. Rebind Link costs $199 USD as a one-time purchase and adds hardware-isolated USB HID output, an up to 8,000 Hz USB report rate, a dedicated onboard processor, multi-device support, and a lifetime device license. The Link purchase also includes 12 months of Pro. The published product notes identify the Link as currently backordered, so the free software mode is the immediately available path.
Rebind’s strongest distinction is the breadth of its programmable control surface. Luau scripts can sit alongside multi-step macros, per-app and per-game targeting, screen sampling, window detection, text templates, and HTTP or WebSocket control. External development connections include TypeScript, Python, Rust, and MCP, giving technical users several ways to connect workflows. Choose Rebind if you need cross-platform input automation and are comfortable configuring scripts or profiles. Choose another option if you want a basic remapping utility, a nontechnical setup, or hardware-isolated output without waiting for the Link.
