Our verdict on Raiz
Raiz is an Australian automated investing app for people who want to invest small amounts regularly. It rounds eligible card purchases to the nearest dollar, supports recurring investments on daily, weekly, fortnightly or monthly schedules, and accepts one-off lump-sum investments. Users can choose ready-made portfolios or, on Plus, build a customised portfolio with ETFs, ASX-listed stocks, Bitcoin and property. The service also includes savings goals through Raiz Jars, children’s investment accounts through Raiz Kids, cashback rewards invested into Raiz accounts, portfolio switching, withdrawals and My Finance tools for spending analysis and cash-flow forecasting. It is available on the web, iOS and Android.
Pricing is structured around three paid monthly plans. Lite costs AUD 2.50 per month and includes three preset portfolios and Raiz Rewards, but excludes Raiz Kids and Raiz Jars. Regular costs AUD 5.50 per month, expands access to eight preset portfolios, and adds Raiz Kids, Raiz Jars and no maximum balance threshold. Plus costs AUD 6.50 per month and includes those Regular features alongside a customised portfolio. Regular and Plus also show percentage-based annual account fees above stated balances. This makes Lite the lower-cost entry point, while Plus is aimed at investors who want broader portfolio control.
Raiz’s main distinction is its combination of automated contributions and investing choices rather than a narrow savings-only workflow. Round-ups, scheduled deposits, cashback and one-off investments support different contribution habits, while Jars and Kids extend the service to separate goals and family investing. Withdrawals are manual, and the product’s investment focus may not suit someone seeking only a bank savings account. Choose Raiz if investing through small, recurring contributions and portfolio options fits your goal; consider an alternative if avoiding paid plans or investment exposure is more important.
