Our verdict on Quicken WillMaker & Trust
Quicken WillMaker & Trust is DIY estate-planning software from Nolo for individuals and families preparing their own legal documents. Guided interviews cover wills, living trusts, health care directives, living wills, financial and limited powers of attorney, final arrangements, letters to survivors, and transfer-on-death deeds. Documents are produced as PDFs with state-specific signing instructions across 49 states. The product is designed for straightforward estate-planning situations and is not a substitute for legal advice.
Pricing is organized into three annual plans. Starter costs $109 per year and includes a will, health care directives, final arrangements, and online access for one year. Plus costs $149 per year and adds living trusts, financial powers of attorney, transfer-on-death deeds, letters to survivors, additional personal finance and family documents, and both online and downloadable Windows/macOS access. All Access costs $219 per year and includes all WillMaker services, secure document storage, document organization and sharing with trusted advisors, plus online and downloadable software. The downloadable software provides indefinite access, with updates for one year.
The main strength is breadth: one product addresses several core estate documents rather than focusing only on wills. Its platform coverage also gives buyers a choice between a web application and downloadable software, depending on the plan. Secure online storage is available on eligible access plans. Buyers should consider it when they want guided document creation and broad coverage at a comparatively accessible annual price. It is less suitable for Louisiana-law matters, situations requiring individualized legal advice, or households that need online and downloadable versions to share data.
