Our verdict on Prisma Access

Prisma Access is Palo Alto Networks’ cloud-delivered SASE platform for enterprises and other organizations securing remote users, branch networks, internet traffic, SaaS applications, and private applications. It brings together secure web gateway controls, zero trust access, firewall as a service, CASB, data loss prevention, threat prevention, and remote browser isolation. Teams can provide secure browser-based access without an endpoint agent, connect private applications through ZTNA Connector or service connections, and apply device posture and risk policies to private application access.

Its strongest fit is an organization that wants a broad security service edge under a connected Palo Alto Networks management model. Strata Cloud Manager or Panorama provides centralized management, while integrations with GlobalProtect, Cloud Identity Engine, Strata Logging Service, Prisma SD-WAN, Enterprise DLP, SaaS Security, and ZTNA Connector extend the platform across endpoint access, identity, logging, networking, data protection, and private applications. The feature set covers both internet-facing controls—URL filtering, DNS security, threat prevention, malware analysis, and browser isolation—and controls for SaaS and private application traffic.

Prisma Access uses a contact-sales purchasing model, and capabilities may depend on the selected license edition and add-on subscriptions. That structure suits enterprise procurement and environments with varied security requirements, but it gives buyers more planning work than a simple fixed-plan product. Organizations should choose it when they need an integrated platform spanning SWG, ZTNA, CASB, DLP, firewall delivery, browser isolation, and posture policies. Teams seeking a narrower tool, transparent self-serve pricing, or a simpler deployment scope may prefer a more focused alternative.
