Prettier is an open-source code formatter for teams that want a consistent style across web-language source files. It parses and reprints supported files, including JavaScript, JSX, Angular, Vue, Flow, TypeScript, CSS, Less, SCSS, HTML, Ember/Handlebars, JSON, GraphQL, Markdown, MDX, and YAML. Its fit spans solo developers through enterprise teams, with browser and JavaScript API access alongside command-line use.

Its strongest advantage is breadth across the web development workflow. Developers can format files from the command line, connect Prettier with Visual Studio Code, Vim, Emacs, Helix, Sublime Text, JetBrains WebStorm, and Visual Studio, or call its asynchronous JavaScript formatting and configuration APIs. Ignore files and related rules help exclude selected files and folders, while formatting checks can list files with differences. Plugins extend the formatter to additional languages and formatting rules, giving teams room to adapt it beyond its built-in language coverage.
