Our verdict on Peplink SD-WAN

Peplink SD-WAN combines fixed-line, cellular, fiber, MPLS, and other WAN connections into logical links for branch offices, mobile deployments, and enterprise networks. It is aimed at businesses, service providers, and specialized mobility deployments that need to manage mixed connectivity across distributed locations. The platform combines Peplink edge routers, cloud management, and virtual appliances, with web, API, and self-hosted options.

Its main strength is breadth across WAN operations. Application-aware routing can use WAN health and quality to steer traffic, while intelligent failover and active/active configurations support continuity across multiple links. SpeedFusion adds bandwidth bonding and session persistence, and encrypted site-to-site VPN connectivity covers secure inter-site connections. Centralized provisioning, monitoring, and configuration management are paired with zero-touch configuration and remote firmware updates. Application filtering, firewall rules, and traffic steering add integrated security controls.

Cloud and virtualization support make the platform suitable for hybrid deployments. The Virtual FusionHub appliance extends SpeedFusion connectivity into private, public, and hybrid cloud environments, with integrations for Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Compute Engine, Microsoft Azure, VMware, Citrix XenServer, Oracle VirtualBox, and Microsoft Hyper-V. The commercial structure is less straightforward than a conventional software subscription: Peplink presents a portfolio of edge routers, cloud management, and virtual appliances, while pricing is handled through contact sales. FusionHub uses a one-time license with partner-provided details. Choose Peplink SD-WAN when flexible WAN bonding, mobility, and cloud appliance support matter most; consider an alternative if you need a single standalone subscription with published plan tiers or built-in AI features.
