Our verdict on OpenAgenda
OpenAgenda is a web-based event agenda platform for organizers and organizations that publish public schedules. Its audience includes cultural venues, associations, municipalities, festivals, networks, universities, companies, and media. The platform supports collaborative event creation, contribution workflows, moderation, location-directory management, multilingual agendas, open-data publication, and event sharing across agendas. It is especially suited to teams coordinating public information across websites and other channels rather than to organizers seeking a complete attendee-management system.
The free plan is a substantial starting point: it includes a collaborative online agenda, unlimited events, unlimited members, open-data publication, spreadsheet, JSON, PDF, and ICS exports, plus technical user support. Paid annual plans are organized by event volume: Up to 2k events/year, Up to 5k events/year, and Up to 10k events/year include paid advanced features and agenda-network support. Above 10k events/year uses custom pricing. The published starting price is 3500 EUR/year, excluding tax. OpenAgenda does not publish a monthly equivalent, so its pricing is best understood as an annual commitment tied to volume.
Distribution and ecosystem fit are central strengths. A read-write REST API supports editing and reading event content, while website embeds and extensions for WordPress, Drupal, and TYPO3 help bring agendas into existing sites. ICS synchronization, statistics, and event sharing add useful reach for public schedules. The trade-off is focus: OpenAgenda does not provide verified speaker management, track management, or attendee-app features. Choose it for collaborative, distributed public agendas and open-data publishing; consider an alternative if your event program depends on detailed speaker workflows, tracks, or a dedicated attendee experience.
