Our verdict on OneLogin Passwordless Authentication
OneLogin Passwordless Authentication adds passwordless sign-in to OneLogin’s broader workforce and customer identity products. It is aimed at organizations seeking workforce access across applications, including those that need both passkeys and established federation protocols. Users can authenticate with a username and an authentication factor, including WebAuthn, passkeys, OneLogin Protect, biometrics, OTP, SMS, voice or hardware tokens. The offering is relevant to small, mid-market and enterprise organizations, but passwordless functionality requires the applicable SSO/MFA products.
The feature set extends beyond login. OneLogin supports SAML and OIDC federation, and directory synchronization with Active Directory, LDAP and cloud directories. Application provisioning and lifecycle management connect authentication to access administration. Listed integrations include Workday, Google Apps and SAML and OIDC applications; the product also lists 6,000 integrations overall. Cloud and self-hosted deployment options, along with web, Windows, macOS, iOS, Android and API platforms, give it scope across mixed environments. Buyers with an established directory or varied application estate may value this breadth; teams seeking only a standalone passkey sign-in component may find the broader identity-management approach more than they need.
The published bundles progress from Basic, with SSO, MFA, Desktop Basic and lifecycle management for 5 apps, to Essentials, which adds unlimited lifecycle management and Advanced Directory. Business adds SmartFactor Authentication, Desktop MFA, HR Directories, RADIUS and VLDAP; Enterprise adds LDAP Directory Sync, Delegated Administration, Multiple Brands and API Access Management. This structure makes the most sense when those broader identity capabilities are part of the requirement, rather than passwordless login alone. Organizations should compare the included capabilities with their directory and administration needs, and confirm that the applicable SSO/MFA bundle covers their intended passwordless use.
