Our verdict on Nobl9
Nobl9 helps SRE, DevOps, engineering, and business teams define and oversee service-level objectives across services and environments. It turns indicators from monitoring and observability systems into SLOs, tracks error-budget usage and burn rates, and provides alerting, health dashboards, review workflows, historical replay, and reports. It is aimed at teams building a sustained SLO program rather than those seeking a lightweight, no-cost reliability tool.
The product’s depth is its central strength: teams can alert on error-budget burn or depletion, assign SLO ownership, add annotations, review service health, and replay historical data for backtesting. Reliability, error-budget, and system-health reporting support ongoing oversight. SLOs as code workflows include sloctl, Terraform, YAML, and CI/CD integration. Its integrations span tools such as Amazon CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Datadog, Dynatrace, Grafana Loki, Jira, and New Relic, with web, API, and self-hosted deployment options. This breadth suits organizations coordinating objectives across varied services and environments, though it may be more tooling than teams with only a small number of informal objectives need.
According to the vendor’s pricing details, Teams Edition costs $14,950 per year and includes 50 SLO Units, up to 10 data sources, all alert methods, two-year data retention, ticket-based support, and custom deployment options including single-tenant SaaS and self-hosted. Professional Edition adds 200 SLO Units, unlimited data sources, 12x5 dedicated support, single sign-on, and custom onboarding; Enterprise adds 500 SLO Units, unlimited sources, 24x7 enterprise support, SCIM sync, and single-tenant and high-availability options. The higher tiers are contact-sales. Teams with budget and ownership for a formal SLO practice may find the structure appropriate; smaller teams looking for a free entry point should look elsewhere.
