Our verdict on memedit
memedit is an open-source command-line tool for scanning and editing memory in offline, single-player Windows games. It attaches to a running process by executable name or process ID, searches typed values, narrows candidates as game values change, and writes replacement values to one or all candidates. The project targets 64-bit Windows processes and may request Administrator elevation through UAC when opening game processes. It is aimed at users who prefer a lightweight interactive terminal workflow over a graphical editor.
Its strongest area is the scan-and-narrow workflow. memedit supports int32, uint32, int64, float32, and float64 values, then lets users refine results with exact, changed, unchanged, greater-than, and less-than scans. An interactive command-line session provides candidate listing and counting, while write operations can replace one candidate or all candidates. Scan alignment, chunk size, and worker count are configurable, and optional file-mapped-region scanning gives the process more memory areas to inspect when needed.
The trade-off is a deliberately narrow feature set. memedit does not provide pointer scanning, a debugger, or scripting support, so it is less suited to repeatable automation, pointer-based workflows, or users who need debugging tools alongside memory editing. Its Windows-only scope also rules out other operating systems. Choose memedit if you want open-source access to a focused scanner and editor for offline, single-player games and are comfortable with command-line interaction. Choose another tool if you need a broader game-editing suite, cross-platform support, pointer scanning, debugger features, or scripts.
