MemberMatters is open-source membership, billing, and access-control software for makerspaces and community groups. It suits organisations that want a self-hosted way to register members, collect recurring payments through Stripe, and manage entry based on payment status. Its scope is particularly relevant where membership includes physical access, rather than only a contact list or dues records.

A notable strength is the connection between billing and entry: access cards can activate or deactivate automatically according to payment status, while permissions and swipe audit logs support access oversight. An Electron kiosk mode provides member sign-in and sign-out. For groups with training requirements, Canvas and Moodle integrations connect membership operations with induction courses. These functions make it a more specific fit for shared spaces than a general-purpose membership directory.
