MEGA review
A privacy-focused storage service with generous capacity and a focused ecosystem.

MEGA is a cloud storage and file-sharing service for individuals, freelancers, small businesses, and larger teams. It combines cloud file and folder storage with sharing permissions, password-protected and expiring links, desktop synchronization, computer backup, file requests, and file recovery. Access is available through the web, Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android, while Business features support user management and data migration. Its privacy focus comes from user-controlled zero-knowledge encryption and encrypted communications.
The free plan provides 20 GB of storage forever, with limited transfer. Paid options expand capacity and transfer through Essential, Pro Lite, Pro I, Pro II, and Pro III. The published plan highlights show 200 GB storage and 2.4 TB transfer for Essential; 750 GB and 12 TB for Pro Lite; 3 TB and 3 TB for Pro I; 10 TB and 10 TB for Pro II; and 20 TB and 20 TB for Pro III. Business requires a minimum of 3 users and includes 3 TB of base storage and transfer, with additional usage charged separately. According to the vendor's pricing notes, transactions are charged in euros even when prices are displayed as estimated local-currency equivalents.
MEGA's strongest fit is for people who prioritize encrypted storage, sharing controls, synchronization, backup, and recovery across major operating systems. File version history, recovery, and file requests extend its usefulness beyond basic file storage, while encrypted chat, audio, and video calls add communication features. The trade-off is a narrower ecosystem focus: its strengths center on storage, transfer, privacy, and collaboration rather than a broad integration layer. Choose MEGA for privacy-oriented storage and substantial capacity; consider another service if extensive third-party integrations are central to your workflow.
