Our verdict on LocationAPI

LocationAPI is a hosted geolocation service for web-enabled applications that need to locate connected devices without GPS. It accepts cellular tower and Wi-Fi observations, with optional IP fallback, and returns latitude, longitude, accuracy and address data. The service supports Android hardware, embedded devices and wearables, making it a fit for developers building location-aware products across web, API and Android environments. It is also suitable for small, mid-market and enterprise organizations that need device positioning rather than a broader location intelligence suite.

Its strongest fit is focused geolocation at the API layer. LocationAPI supports GSM, CDMA, UMTS and LTE radio types, reverse geolocation, address responses and regional API endpoints in the United States, Europe and Asia Pacific. An API sandbox and developer token support evaluation and integration work, while the published plans show a free Developer tier with limited requests, no commercial use and email support. The Business plan adds scaling to millions of requests, along with custom SLA and contract options.
