  • Where it wins

    • Replicated SQLite and shared files are included with every app.
    • Supports Git, Docker, source builds, SSH, and REST API deployment.
    • HTTPS, CDN delivery, autoscaling to zero, and isolated VMs are included.
  • Where it doesn't

    • Usage-based billing can make monthly costs less predictable.
    • The platform is in public preview and paid rates may change.
    • Its strongest fit is app deployment rather than a narrow single-purpose workflow.

Our verdict on Kedge

Kedge is a cloud platform for deploying websites, applications, and databases to public HTTPS URLs. It is aimed at developers who want several deployment paths alongside application state at the edge. Projects can be published through SSH, Git, GitHub pull-request previews, Dockerfiles, Compose, prebuilt images, automatic source builds, or a REST API. Every app includes replicated SQLite and a replicated shared file tree, while custom domains, CDN delivery, private account networking, persistent volumes, and hardware-isolated virtual machines support production-oriented deployments. Kedge also offers persistent development workspaces and coding-agent sessions.

Pricing is usage-based after the Free tier, which includes $5 of monthly usage and applies usage credits before paid credit. CPU usage is $15 per vCPU-month, memory is $5 per GiB-month, storage is $0.05 per GiB-month, and egress is $0.01 per GiB. CPU and memory are metered per second; storage is billed for bytes stored, and egress is billed for bytes leaving the app. This structure can suit workloads that scale down, especially with autoscaling to zero, but it makes spend less predictable than a fixed subscription. Kedge is in public preview, and the listed future paid-service rates may change.

The standout feature is the combination of deployment flexibility with replicated state: SQLite and shared files arrive with every app rather than requiring a separate service in the listed setup. Demand-based routing, persistent local filesystems, HTTPS, CDN delivery, and deployment across ten compute regions extend that model. Choose Kedge if you want an integrated platform for edge-hosted applications with stateful components and multiple developer workflows. Look elsewhere if your priority is a fixed-price plan or a narrowly focused hosting workflow rather than configurable, metered infrastructure.
