Google Drive is a cloud storage service for individuals, teams, and organizations that need to upload, organize, search, share, and collaborate on files. It supports Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides, with access through the web, mobile apps, and Drive for desktop. Teams get shared drives, permission levels for viewers, commenters, and editors, plus administrator controls in Google Workspace editions. Its platform coverage and general-purpose file management make it a strong fit for organizations that want storage closely connected to everyday collaboration tools.
The published plans show a freemium model alongside Google Workspace tiers. Business Starter costs $7 per user per month with annual billing and includes 30 GB of pooled storage per user, custom business email, and security and management controls. Business Standard costs $14 and adds 2 TB of pooled storage per user, recorded video meetings, and electronic signatures with Docs and PDFs. Business Plus costs $22 and includes 5 TB of pooled storage per user plus advanced security and management features. Enterprise offers 5 TB or more, in-domain live streaming, and contact-sales pricing. A 14-day free trial is also available.
Drive stands out through its breadth: desktop streaming and mirroring, offline mobile access, searchable PDF scanning on Android and iOS, file version restoration, and ransomware detection with recovery in Drive for desktop. Search can filter by file type, people, modified date, and location. Integrations include Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, Slack, Zoom, Salesforce, Atlassian, and SAP, while AI features are included. Choose it for broad storage, collaboration, and platform coverage; consider another option if personal storage separation or universally available client-side encryption is the priority.
