Our verdict on Gitfox

Gitfox is a native macOS Git client for individual developers and teams working with hosted or self-managed repositories. It covers reviewing diffs, staging changes, managing branches, resolving conflicts, and working with GitHub, GitLab, GitLab Self-Managed, Bitbucket, and Gitea. The app runs locally with bundled or system Git and requires macOS 26.0 or later, making it a focused option for Mac-based development teams rather than a cross-platform Git client.

Gitfox uses paid plans with a 30-day Trial that provides full access to every Pro feature without requiring a credit card. The Pro plan costs €5 per user per month with annual billing and is intended for a single user, with all current and future features and use on all the user's Macs. The Team plan costs €6 per seat per month with annual billing, supports teams of two or more, includes everything in Pro, and uses one license across multiple seats. There is no free plan, so the trial is the main way to evaluate the full feature set before paying.

Its standout strength is workflow depth. Users can choose side-by-side, inline, Fluid, Blocks, or Unified diffs; stage individual lines and hunks; annotate inline blame; and use interactive rebase actions such as edit, reword, drop, fix up, and squash. Gitfox also includes graphical conflict resolution for whole files and individual hunks, Git LFS actions, submodule workflows, snapshots, stash management, and SSH or GPG commit signing. Service-account support and integrations with Jira Cloud, Claude, and Codex extend its ecosystem fit. Choose Gitfox if you work on a compatible Mac and want broad Git workflow coverage; choose another client if macOS support or the paid-only model does not fit.
