Our verdict on GitFinder

GitFinder is a desktop Git client for macOS from ZigZag, designed for developers who want repository work available alongside Finder. It adds Git status badges, contextual commands, and toolbar actions to files and folders, while also providing a repository browser for branches, tags, remotes, submodules, commits, diffs, history, and blame views. The feature set covers common repository tasks, including creating, cloning, staging, committing, amending, checking out, cherry-picking, reverting, merging, rebasing, and stashing.

Its strongest fit is for Mac users who want a broad Git workflow without leaving the Finder-centered desktop environment. GitFinder supports native Git LFS and submodule operations, and it can handle merge conflicts with external tools. Listed integrations include GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, and tools such as Araxis Merge, Beyond Compare, FileMerge, Kaleidoscope, P4Merge, BBEdit, Changes, TextMate, and TextWrangler. Pull-request support across GitHub, GitLab, and Bitbucket also gives the application useful coverage for teams working across those hosting services.

GitFinder is a paid product with a 30-day trial and a 30-day full refund policy. That gives prospective users a defined evaluation period, but there is no free plan for ongoing use. The macOS-only platform is the clearest boundary: it suits individual Mac developers and teams standardized on Apple desktops, but it is a poor fit for organizations that need one Git client across macOS, Windows, and Linux. Choose GitFinder for Finder integration, visual repository navigation, and support for LFS, submodules, pull requests, and external diff or merge tools; choose another client if cross-platform availability or a free tier is essential.
