Our verdict on GameFlow

GameFlow is free, MIT-licensed desktop software for remapping gamepad, joystick, keyboard, mouse, and phone inputs into virtual controller outputs. It is aimed at players and emulator users who need more than basic button reassignment, including multiplatform users working across Windows, Linux, and macOS. Its input support also includes phone browsers over a local network, while saved JSON profiles and profile switching provide a way to preserve configurations.

The published product details describe one free open-source offering rather than separate paid tiers. GameFlow includes button and stick remapping, autofire, shift layers with multiple activation modes, SOCD cleaning, gyro aiming, touchpad mapping, per-device tuning, calibration, and multiple independent virtual-controller slots. Sandboxed Lua control scripting, timed button-combo sequences, and freeze macros extend it toward custom control schemes. The main platform distinction is important: virtual gamepad output is currently implemented on Windows, while Linux and macOS provide preview output only.

GameFlow also fits emulator and streaming workflows through integrations with Cemu, Dolphin, Yuzu, Ryujinx, and OBS. Its breadth is a strength for users combining physical controllers, keyboard and mouse input, gyro, touchpads, and phone controls in one mapper. However, buyers who require confirmed per-application profiles or full virtual-gamepad output on Linux and macOS should choose an alternative designed around those requirements. GameFlow is the better fit for users who value configurable input logic, scripting, and open-source distribution, particularly when Windows is the target platform.
