Our verdict on Dollar General
For Dollar General shoppers, the Android app brings store-specific shopping and savings into one place. It supports browsing and ordering products online, clipping digital coupons, managing offers and DG Cash in the myDG wallet, checking local weekly ads, and creating shopping lists. The app is free, as is myDG membership, so its appeal is straightforward for people who already shop at Dollar General and want to organize offers alongside orders. It is not a general-purpose shopping app for comparing retailers; its value is tied to Dollar General’s products and programs.
The savings tools are central to the experience described: shoppers can manage clipped offers and earn myDG cash back on eligible purchases. DG Cash earned through eligible offers can be used for future in-store purchases. This makes the app a fit for coupon users who want their offers and rewards in a single wallet, while shoppers who do not want to track retailer-specific coupons may have less reason to use it. Local weekly ads and shopping lists add practical planning features, though the listing does not position the app around price-drop alerts.
Ordering options extend beyond browsing: shoppers can place DG Pickup orders in the app and schedule delivery in eligible areas, with order progress updates by text or email. Availability and delivery timing vary by area, so these options depend on where a shopper lives. The app is available on Android and the web, and support is offered by email. Choose it for Dollar General coupons, rewards, and store orders; shoppers looking for cross-retailer shopping or pickup and delivery independent of location should look elsewhere.
