Our verdict on Dokploy
Dokploy is a platform as a service for deploying containerized applications, databases, and Docker Compose projects. It suits development teams that want to manage deployments on their own infrastructure or use a managed cloud control plane. Applications can be deployed from GitHub, Git, Docker images, and webhooks, while native Docker Compose and Docker Stack support accommodates projects already organized around containers. Its free, open-source Self-Hosted option is a fit for teams that want to run the platform on infrastructure they control.
Database management is a notable part of Dokploy’s scope: it supports PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, and Redis, with scheduled backups to S3 destinations. Teams can also use application and database monitoring, logs, deployment history, custom or generated domains, and Traefik integration. Pull requests can trigger preview deployments, and multi-server deployment works through remote servers and Docker Swarm clusters. GitLab, Gitea, Bitbucket, Docker Registry, and Docker Hub are among the integrations; REST API and CLI access are also available. This combination is suited to teams that want container deployment and database operations in one platform, rather than a narrow application deployer.
The published plans show a free Self-Hosted option, Hobby at $4.50 per server per month, and Startup at $15 per month. Hobby includes unlimited deployments, databases, and applications but is limited to one server and two environments, with community support. Startup allows up to three servers and includes unlimited users and environments, basic RBAC, and email and chat support. Enterprise adds unlimited servers, fine-grained RBAC, SSO/SAML, SCIM provisioning, and audit logs; Agency is a separate plan with partner support. A seven-day trial is listed. Dokploy is less suitable for teams that require autoscaling; teams needing broader server access or enterprise identity controls should weigh the paid tiers against their requirements.
