Our verdict on Devin
Devin is an autonomous AI software engineer for individuals and engineering teams. It can plan and execute coding tasks, write and test code, investigate bugs, perform migrations and refactors, review pull requests, and work with repositories, tickets, and team communication tools. Its interfaces include a web application, Devin Desktop, Devin CLI, API, embedded IDE, and shell, with support for web, Windows, macOS, and Linux.
The published plans use different usage limits and collaboration options. Free costs $0 per month and includes limited Devin usage, Devin Review access, and DeepWiki access. Pro costs $20 per month for an individual plan with daily and weekly usage quotas, on-demand credits, and Slack, Linear, and MCP integrations. Max costs $200 per month for an individual plan with everything in Pro, a larger weekly usage quota, no daily cap, and on-demand credits. Teams has an $80 per month minimum, with full seats, flex seats, and shared on-demand credits. Enterprise is billed in Agent Compute Units, with the rate set in the order form.
Devin’s main strength is breadth across the software engineering workflow. It supports autonomous multi-step work, browser-based testing and computer use, repository indexing, pull-request review, cloud handoff, scheduled engineering tasks, and integrations with GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, Azure DevOps, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Jira, Linear, Databricks, and PagerDuty. The supported IDE list includes Devin Desktop IDE, Zed, JetBrains, and Xcode. Choose Devin if you want one AI system spanning coding, testing, repository understanding, and team workflows. A narrower coding assistant may be a better fit if you only need code completion or chat assistance without autonomous task execution.
