Our verdict on Database Vault

Database Vault is a cloud service for automating database backups and recovery. It is aimed at solo developers, startups, agencies, and engineering teams managing PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, SQLite, Firebase, or Supabase. The web-based product connects through credentials or connection strings, schedules backups, stores encrypted copies in cloud storage, and brings backup history, monitoring, logs, analytics, notifications, and restore tools into a multi-database dashboard.

The published plans give smaller teams a low-cost entry point. The Free plan provides weekly automated backups, 7-day retention, 1 GB of storage, and basic email notifications. Starter costs $9 per month and supports up to 3 databases, daily backups, 7-day retention, 10 GB of storage, and email notifications. Pro costs $15 per month and supports up to 10 databases, daily backups, manual or instant backups, 30-day retention, 50 GB of storage, plus email and webhook notifications. The plan structure makes the main upgrade path clear: more databases, more storage, longer retention, and additional backup controls.

Recovery and monitoring are the product’s strongest operational focus. Database Vault offers retention policy configuration, point-in-time snapshot restoration, one-click restore to a new database, backup failure monitoring, retries, detailed logs, and backup analytics. Its scheduling range also covers hourly intervals alongside daily, weekly, and custom schedules. The trade-off is a narrow recovery model: the product describes snapshot restoration rather than continuous transaction-log recovery. Teams needing frequent backups across more than 10 databases, more than 50 GB of storage, or a non-web deployment may need a different fit. Database Vault suits buyers who want straightforward managed backups for supported databases, but it is less suited to complex recovery architectures or broad platform requirements.
