Our verdict on CodeSandbox
CodeSandbox provides browser-based and virtual-machine development environments for developers, teams, educators, and AI applications. It supports creating, running, sharing, and collaborating on projects in isolated sandboxes, with access through the web, VS Code, or iOS. GitHub repository import, Dev Container configuration, Docker support, live previews, and hot reload make it suited to collaborative sandbox work, prototypes, code execution, and development workflows that benefit from shareable environments.
The plan structure scales from an accessible free SDK Editor tier to team and enterprise use. SDK Editor includes 5 members, 40 hours of monthly VM credits, unlimited Browser and VM Sandboxes, Private Sandboxes, and a VS Code extension. Scale adds up to 20 members, 160 hours of monthly VM credits, on-demand VM credits, 250 concurrent VMs, and the CodeSandbox SDK. Enterprise includes custom deployment, unlimited members, bespoke concurrent VMs, dedicated support, and SOC 2 Type II compliance.
