Our verdict on Cloudflare Workers Playground
Cloudflare Workers Playground is a browser-based coding environment for experimenting with Cloudflare Workers without local setup or authentication. It is intended for developers working on frontend applications, backend APIs, and full-stack applications through Workers. The workspace combines a browser code editor with a live Worker preview, editable HTTP request testing, JSDoc-based type checking, error pages, and a lightweight console log viewer. Persistent share links make it possible to share playground code and its preview, while one-step deployment sends Workers to Cloudflare’s global network.
Pricing is split between the free Playground experience and the broader Workers platform. The Workers Free plan costs $0 per month and includes 100,000 requests per day, 10 milliseconds of CPU time per invocation, and access to the Workers Free plan by default. The Workers Paid plan costs $5 per account per month, billed monthly. It includes usage for Workers, Pages Functions, Workers KV, Hyperdrive, and Durable Objects, along with 10 million requests per month and 30 million CPU milliseconds per month. The paid tier is account-based rather than per-user, and deployment uses the broader Workers platform rather than a separate Playground-only plan.
The strongest fit is for developers who want a quick path from browser editing to request-level checks, shareable previews, and Cloudflare deployment. Its standout advantage is the compact workflow: automatic preview updates, request editing, type checking, logs, and deployment are presented in one environment. The tradeoff is its narrow ecosystem focus. Teams seeking a playground centered on another runtime or deployment platform should choose a different tool, while Cloudflare-oriented developers can use the Playground as an accessible entry point to Workers and its related services.
