Our verdict on Cloudflare Data Loss Prevention
Cloudflare Data Loss Prevention is a cloud-native security service for organizations that need to detect and control sensitive data across web traffic, SaaS application files, cloud environments, AI prompts and responses, and outbound Microsoft 365 email. It is aimed at teams managing network controls, cloud application data, discovery, and incident workflows through a web, API, or supported desktop and mobile environment. Policies can allow, block, or log matching traffic using predefined and custom DLP profiles.
The published plans show a useful entry path. The Free plan costs $0 per month forever and is intended for teams under 50 users or enterprise proof-of-concept tests. Pay-as-you-go costs $7 per user per month, billed monthly, for teams over 50 solving narrow SSE use cases without enterprise support. The Contract plan is for organizations building toward full-featured SASE or workspace security. DLP is an add-on to Zero Trust Enterprise plans, while Zero Trust Free and Pay-as-you-go users receive a limited set of predefined profiles and related capabilities. The $7 price applies to the Cloudflare One Pay-as-you-go plan, rather than a standalone DLP-only product.
Its main strength is coverage across several data paths and detection methods. Cloudflare lists HTTP inspection, connected SaaS and cloud scanning, AI prompt and response analysis, outbound email DLP for Microsoft 365, OCR for images, payload logging, Logpush forensic copies, false-positive reporting, and AI context analysis.
