Our verdict on BugLens
BugLens reviews GitHub pull requests with AI analysis and deterministic checks, posting inline comments with findings and suggested fixes. It is aimed at solo developers and small to mid-market teams that want automated checks, team-convention context, and review analytics in their GitHub workflow. Reviews rerun when code is pushed, and BugLens can also set a commit status. The service is cloud-based, with a browser extension also listed among its deployment options.
Its checks combine AI analysis for bugs, security issues, and logic errors with eight deterministic checks, including hardcoded secrets, missing await, eval usage, and shell injection. Codebase-aware reviews compare changes with repository context and a knowledge base of team conventions; retained team feedback can inform future reviews. Analytics cover bug patterns and recurring violations. For teams reviewing agent-authored code, BugLens also describes a REST API, MCP server, and CLI. GitHub is the only supported host, so teams working across other code-hosting services should look elsewhere.
The Free plan offers generic AI reviews, community support, and public repositories only. Starter costs $19 USD per month and adds context-aware reviews, private repositories, shadow mode, a priority analysis queue, and email support. Team is displayed at $49 USD per seat per month with custom coding standards, Slack and Discord integrations, organization-wide installation, and priority Slack support, but it is marked “Soon” with a waitlist.
