Our verdict on BigBasket
BigBasket is an online grocery retailer and Android shopping app for customers in India, with a web option too. Its catalog covers groceries, fresh produce, meat, household essentials, personal-care products, and other daily needs. It suits shoppers who want to order a broad range of everyday goods, especially those who value reordering and delivery choices. Checkout supports UPI, net banking, credit and debit cards, and e-wallets.
The app’s search and repeat-order tools are a notable fit for frequent grocery shopping. Customers can search in seven regional languages, use voice commands or barcode scanning, and filter by category or brand. SmartBasket lets them reorder past purchases. BigBasket also offers scheduled delivery slots; its bbnow service advertises delivery in 15–30 minutes, but only in select cities. That makes the rapid option useful for eligible locations, rather than a reason to assume the same delivery window is available everywhere.
BigBasket uses a freemium model: the standard shopping app has a free plan, while bbstar Membership is a paid option. According to the vendor’s membership page, it costs Rs 299 for six months. Benefits include cashback on qualifying orders, reserved delivery slots, exclusive member offers, and no delivery charge on orders above Rs 600. The free app may suit shoppers who want to place occasional orders without membership; bbstar is more relevant to customers who can make use of its delivery and offer benefits. Choose another option if you need a guaranteed rapid-delivery window outside bbnow’s select cities.
