- Includes Python, Jupyter Notebook, JupyterLab, Navigator, and data science packages.
- Runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux with desktop and command-line workflows.
Where it doesn't

Our verdict on Anaconda Distribution
Anaconda Distribution bundles Python, Jupyter Notebook, JupyterLab, conda, Navigator, and a curated collection of data science, machine learning, and AI packages. It is designed for learners, individual developers, data scientists, and organizations that want a managed Python environment across Windows, macOS, and Linux. Users can search for and install packages, create isolated environments, switch between them, and work through either a desktop interface or the command line. Package building, channel uploads, and multi-platform lockfiles extend it beyond a basic installer.
The Free plan includes Anaconda Core package management, 5GB of cloud storage for notebooks, thousands of data science, ML, and AI packages, Anaconda Assistant code help, and introductory courses. Starter costs $15 per user per month and adds a professional development environment, on-demand training courses, and team workspace controls. Business costs $50 per user per month and adds automated vulnerability scanning, audit trails, project governance, centralized access management, SSO, threat intelligence, and curated security data. A Custom plan supports on-premises, private, or public cloud deployment, advanced multi-team governance, custom integrations, and SLAs.
The main strength is breadth within Python-based data and AI work: package and environment management sit alongside Jupyter tools, Navigator, lockfiles, and package publishing. That combination can reduce the need to assemble a separate workflow for notebooks, environments, and common data science packages. Its ecosystem fit is clearest for users already working with Python, Jupyter Notebook, or JupyterLab. A minimal Python project that needs only a lightweight package manager may find the distribution broader than necessary, while teams needing governance, SSO, or security controls should consider Starter or Business. Anaconda is the stronger pick for managed data science workflows; it is less suited to users seeking a narrowly focused Python package tool.
