First, write down PRISM’s exact notification and error code, then check on another device whether YouTube still shows the broadcast as live. A desktop “Disconnected from server” (Error code: 57995) points to a different problem from a failed connection, dropped frames, or a stream YouTube has ended.
Identify what is disconnecting
Before changing settings, note whether PRISM never connects, connects and then stops, reports dropped frames while the broadcast remains live, or stays open after YouTube ends the broadcast. Record the exact message and any error code. PRISM’s desktop guide identifies 57995 as the YouTube RTMP “Disconnected from server” case; 57998 is a separate “Failed to connect to the server” error.
- Stream stops with 57995: start with the desktop network checks below.
- Stream will not start and shows 57998: see the regional network guidance below.
- Dropped-frame notice: match the fix to whether PRISM reports network instability, slow rendering, or poor encoding.
- Mobile stream stops: use the mobile section; its causes and settings differ from desktop.
PRISM’s official help pages reviewed here do not state publication years. Their error codes and setting recommendations are vendor guidance, not independent performance tests.
Desktop: troubleshoot “Disconnected from server” (57995)
PRISM lists local network instability, inadequate upload speed, weak Wi-Fi, and firewall or security-software interference among possible causes of error 57995. Its guide does not give a universal upload-speed threshold, so test the stability of your actual connection rather than treating one speed-test number as a guarantee.

When using an adapter, if the device is recognized as USB 2.0, try using the other side with the USB-C port. Simply flip the capture card and reconnect it to be recognized as USB 3.0
Test the network link first
- If you are on Wi-Fi and wired access is available, connect the computer to the router by Ethernet/LAN and try the stream again. PRISM recommends wired LAN over Wi-Fi for consistent data transmission. If you do not have a cable or port, try borrowing a cable or using an existing adapter before buying anything.
- Pause large uploads, downloads, cloud backups, and other heavy network use on the same connection. If other people or devices are sharing the link, test when that traffic is reduced.
- Change one thing at a time and observe whether the stream remains connected. This helps distinguish an unstable link from an encoder or computer-load problem.
Check firewall and security settings carefully
PRISM notes that a firewall or third-party security software may interfere with the connection. Check the software’s blocked-app and allow-list settings for PRISM, and ask your network administrator if this is a managed network. PRISM mentions temporarily disabling antivirus or firewall software as a diagnostic, but leaving protection off is not a fix. If you choose to make a brief test, do it only where safe, restore protection immediately, and prefer an allow-list adjustment.
Desktop: match dropped frames to their cause
A dropped-frame message does not necessarily mean the YouTube broadcast has ended. PRISM distinguishes transmission problems from computer rendering and encoding problems; read the exact notice before changing settings.

| PRISM notice or symptom | What it points to | Tests to try |
|---|---|---|
| “Your network connection is unstable. The bitrate will decrease according to your current network conditions.” | Network conditions or transmission stability | Use wired LAN if possible, reduce competing network traffic, and consider a lower bitrate or output resolution. |
| Slow rendering | Computer load or complex sources/scenes | Close unnecessary programs, simplify the scene or reduce sources, and test 30 FPS instead of 60 FPS. |
| Poor encoding | Encoder, FPS, bitrate, or CPU/GPU capacity | Try a lower FPS or bitrate. If needed, test another available encoder; PRISM says options depend on graphics hardware and advises keeping the default unless a change is needed. |
PRISM’s broader desktop performance guidance says higher resolution, bitrate, and FPS can strain both the computer and network, while numerous sources or scenes can increase CPU/GPU load. Reduce settings in small steps and check the result rather than changing several variables at once.
Where to adjust desktop settings
- Bitrate or encoder: Settings > Output > Advanced > Streaming.
- Resolution or FPS: Settings > Video.
Labels and locations can vary with PRISM’s desktop version. If a setting is not present under that path, consult the current in-app help or PRISM support rather than assuming every version exposes identical controls.

Desktop: use the 57998 network workaround only when it fits
Error 57998, “Failed to connect to the server,” concerns a failure to connect, not necessarily a stream that was already live and then disconnected. PRISM’s IPv4 and network-optimization instructions are specifically directed at users in India and Indonesia, where it describes IPv6 transition or ISP infrastructure conditions. They are not a general fix for every country or for error 57995.
- In PRISM, open Settings > Advanced > Network.
- Set IP Family to IPv4 Only and enable Network Optimizations, if those options are available.
- Apply the changes and restart PRISM before testing again.
Use this only if you have the matching connection failure and location/context; reverting the setting is reasonable if it does not help or causes other network issues.

Mobile: check bandwidth, adaptive settings, and permissions
PRISM’s mobile troubleshooting guidance says its streaming error can appear when the connection between the app’s RTMP engine and the receiving platform server is lost for more than 10 minutes. The page lists unstable or insufficient bandwidth as a common cause, but also identifies an invalid or nonexistent RTMP address, app-to-platform connection problems, and limits on the account’s streaming permissions.
- Try a more stable network. If possible, switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data to see whether one connection is the source of the problem.
- Lower the output resolution and restore PRISM’s Adaptive setting if you previously disabled it. PRISM describes adaptive bitrate as adjusting bitrate and FPS to current network conditions, potentially reducing image quality to improve stability.
- If you configured a custom RTMP destination, check that its server address and stream key are current and correctly entered. Do not share the key publicly; replace it if it has been exposed.
- Check whether the account and platform allow the stream, then test again. A network change cannot fix a platform permission limit.
PRISM’s FAQ gives broad app recommendations of 1–2 Mbps for 360p, 2–4 Mbps for 720p, and 4–6 Mbps for 1080p; it also recommends 30 FPS for ordinary live broadcasts and a 1–2 second keyframe interval. These are PRISM recommendations, not YouTube requirements, and the FAQ does not specify desktop YouTube as the context for every value.

For mobile streaming with Adaptive off, PRISM’s performance guide gives illustrative bandwidth ranges by generated chunk: 1080p, 0.1–4 Mbps or 0.1–6 Mbps; 720p, 0.1–2.5 Mbps or 0.1–4 Mbps; 480p, 0.1–2.0 Mbps; and 360p, 0.1–1.5 Mbps. PRISM says the mobile network should exceed the relevant capacity and suggests at least twice the stated bandwidth for high-quality live streaming. These are guidance ranges, not guaranteed thresholds or independent measurements; the guide’s individual Wi-Fi and LTE speed-test examples should not be read as typical results.
Confirm whether YouTube or the device ended the broadcast
Check the broadcast in YouTube from a separate device, not only the PRISM window. PRISM says it checks whether the stream remains live on the platform and can show an exceptional-condition message when it confirms that the live stream stopped. A phone or computer overheating, processing limits, network gaps, platform policies, or platform time limits may also interrupt a broadcast. Platform time-limit criteria vary and can change, so check the relevant platform status and rules for your account.
If the stream still disconnects
- Keep the exact PRISM message and error code, the time it happened, and whether YouTube still showed the broadcast as live.
- Note your device, operating system, PRISM version, network type (Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or mobile data), and which single change you tested.
- Update PRISM to the current version, then contact PRISM through its Service Inquiry/support route if its listed checks do not resolve the problem.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep uploaded videos playing on a YouTube channel around the clock, rather than to broadcast a live camera or desktop session, StreamNeo is a separate cloud option.
