Independent reviews also raise concerns about loose-feeling sticks and firm buttons, so it is a less convincing pick for players who prioritise precise control or a wireless, full-featured main controller.

PowerA lists the Advantage Wired Controller for Nintendo Switch 2 as SKU NSGP0526-01. It is an officially licensed wired controller with offset thumbsticks and a detachable 10-foot USB-C cable. The product is also listed as compatible with the original Nintendo Switch and Switch OLED; the docked-only restriction applies to Switch 2 use.

Switch 2 limitations to consider before buying
PowerA specifies that this controller can be used with Switch 2 only while the console is docked. It is wired, so it is not an option for handheld play or for a setup where a cable across the room is inconvenient.

PowerA also says the controller does not support HD rumble, motion controls, IR camera functions or amiibo NFC, and is not suitable for games that require Joy-Con. These are functional omissions, not just differences in feel: check the needs of the games and features you use before choosing it.

Reviews find a useful feature set and responsive wired play, but give mixed impressions of the controls. These are individual reviewers’ assessments rather than guaranteed experiences for every player.

Thumbsticks and precision
TechRadar tested the controller for more than two weeks and described its thumbsticks as loose-feeling, reporting difficulty with fine control in precision-focused play. The review also found the textured stick tops uncomfortable over longer sessions. Layout and extra controls
Nintendo Life notes the offset sticks, rear AGL/AGR buttons and headphone jack, as well as the placement of several navigation and system buttons beneath the D-pad and right stick. PowerA Advantage Wired versus a wireless alternative
The trade-off is clearest against a wireless controller such as Nintendo’s Switch 2 Pro Controller. The Pro Controller is a reference point in the reviewed comparisons; current prices and availability can change, so compare listings at the time you buy.

Is the PowerA Advantage Wired Controller worth it?
It makes the most sense if you play docked, want a wired spare, and value rear button mapping, Hall Effect sticks and onboard headset controls more than wireless play, rumble or motion support. Its listed price was $39.99 on PowerA’s page when accessed, but check the current product listing before buying because price and stock are volatile.
Choose another controller if you need handheld use, play games that rely on Joy-Con features, want rumble or motion controls, or need reliable fine stick control based on the concerns raised by reviewers. If you are uncertain about its stick feel, the independent impressions make trying it in person or buying from a retailer with a suitable return policy sensible.
