Yes—Pokémon Ghost Grey cheats can work, but the dependable results documented so far are tied to the FireRed-based ROM hack’s version 1.0.4 and to emulators that expose Game Boy Advance cheat entry. Guides tested on October 6, 2026 reported working categories for Infinite PP, no encounters, one-hit knockouts, shiny encounters, infinite EXP, walk through walls, and wild-Pokémon encounters.
Use a normal in-game save and an emulator save state first, activate one code at a time, and disable temporary cheats immediately after their intended use. A code that works in Ghost Grey 1.0.4 is not automatically compatible with another patch, dump, or emulator core.
What Pokémon Ghost Grey is—and why cheat compatibility is version-specific
Pokémon Ghost Grey is a completed Game Boy Advance ROM hack built from Pokémon FireRed. JoeyZeed describes an original horror-inspired story in a decayed Kanto set 50 years after Gold, Silver, and Crystal. The campaign includes seven badges, a Champion objective, secrets, and postgame content. Its feature set includes more than 200 ghost Pokémon, over 120 original regional variants, new areas and overworlds, original sprites, and a soundtrack with more than 130 songs and jingles.

The game changes several mechanics compared with an unmodified FireRed. EVs, IVs, Hidden Power, eggs, and breeding are absent, while Fairy typing, the physical/special split, and custom moves are added or changed. That matters when you decide whether a conventional FireRed code is appropriate: a code can be technically valid for the base engine yet produce an unintended result in a heavily modified hack.
Before entering a code
Confirm the ROM and emulator
- Check that the game identifies as Ghost Grey version 1.0.4. Do not assume a later fan patch, translation, or alternate build uses the same addresses.
- Use an emulator that runs Game Boy Advance software and provides CodeBreaker, Action Replay, or GameShark entry. A gamepad or handheld can run the ROM without offering any cheat interface.
- Verify that you can create both an in-game save and a save state. Save states are useful for testing, but they should not replace regular in-game saves.
Understand the code format
Enter each line exactly as shown, preserving the code type selected in the guide. Some emulators accept a generic “cheat” field and detect the format; others require you to choose CodeBreaker, Action Replay, or GameShark. A wild-Pokémon modifier is different from a standalone code because it needs a separate master code and a species value.
Documented Pokémon Ghost Grey cheats
The following strings are the codes reported for the tested v1.0.4 environment. Activate only the code you are currently testing, unless a guide explicitly says that a master code must remain enabled.
Infinite PP

No Pokémon encounters
320386DC 0001Use this when you want to walk through grass or other encounter zones without triggering wild battles. Turn it off before you deliberately hunt for a wild Pokémon, including when testing a wild modifier.
One-hit knockout
95EDFBBA A5A72A78 C833D1A0 02FA7205The reported effect is an immediate knockout of the opposing Pokémon in battle. Because battle codes can affect scripted encounters, disable it before a story battle if the fight behaves unexpectedly.
Shiny Pokémon encounters

Infinite EXP
RetroDodo lists Infinite EXP as a multi-line code for the tested release and displays an on-screen warning that it may be incompatible with the latest version. The guide reports no problem during its own use, but the individual lines are not reproduced in the available listing here. Do not replace them with an Infinite EXP code from an unrelated FireRed version; use the complete v1.0.4 listing exactly as published by that guide, and disable it if experience gains, level-up screens, or battle flow become abnormal.

Walk through walls

Use it only for the short movement you need, turn it off before entering a door or scripted map transition, and reload your last safe save state if the character becomes trapped.
Wild-Pokémon modifier
PokeCoders specifies a master code, an activation line, and a species line. Enter the master code separately if your emulator requires separate cheat records:

A value copied from another regional Pokédex or another hack can produce the wrong Pokémon, a corrupted name, or a crash. Enable the modifier before entering the encounter area, confirm the result, then disable it and remove the master code when finished.

Other item, money, and battle codes
PokeCoders’ v1.0.4 guide also lists item, money, Rare Candy, encounter, and battle cheats that were remapped and retested for that release. The exact strings vary by category and are not stated in the available listing used for this article, so do not infer them from vanilla FireRed tables. Treat each as version-specific and follow the guide’s stated code type and master-code requirement.
Safe activation workflow
- Make two backups. Save through the game’s own save menu, then create an emulator save state in a location where the code cannot affect a critical event.
- Open the emulator’s cheat manager. Choose the code family requested by the guide—CodeBreaker, Action Replay, or GameShark—rather than pasting every line into an untyped field.
- Add one new cheat. Give it a descriptive name such as “Ghost Grey 1.0.4 – No encounters.” For the wild modifier, create separate entries for the master code, activation line, and species line if required by the emulator.
- Enable only that test. Leave unrelated cheats disabled. RetroDodo reports that combinations can behave unpredictably, even when each code works by itself.
- Perform a low-risk check. Test an encounter or battle away from a permanent story trigger. Confirm the intended effect before continuing.
- Disable temporary effects. Turn off Infinite PP outside battles, switch off walk through walls immediately after crossing the obstacle, and disable encounter or shiny modifiers after the desired Pokémon appears.
- Save normally after success. Keep the original backup until you have played through the affected area without glitches. If anything looks wrong, close the game without overwriting that backup and restore it.
Choosing an emulator setup
No single device is certified for every current listing, but the tested environments demonstrate the features that matter. Evaluate the emulator rather than choosing hardware by appearance alone.

The reported test environments were mGBA Desktop, Delta, Manic Emu’s mGBA core, Pizza Boy, and MyBoy. Their inclusion in a test report does not guarantee identical behavior on every operating-system version or emulator build. Check that your specific build exposes the same cheat menu and save-state functions.

Troubleshooting failed or dangerous cheats
The cheat has no effect
- Recheck the ROM version first. A code for Ghost Grey 1.0.4 should not be assumed to work on another release.
- Confirm that the emulator is actually running the GBA file and that the cheat is enabled in the current session.
- Check the selected code family and preserve every line break and space.
- For a wild modifier, verify that the master code, activation line, and species value are all present and enabled together.
The game freezes or crashes
- Disable every cheat, close the ROM, and reload the last clean in-game save or save state.
- Do not keep walk through walls active during doors, map transitions, or scripted scenes.
- Test the code alone; multiple active cheats are a common source of conflicts.
- If only one code causes the crash, remove it and do not reuse a code copied from another Ghost Grey version.
The wrong Pokémon appears
Wild modifiers depend on the species identifier. Recheck the YYYY value against the Ghost Grey v1.0.4 identifier list, not a standard FireRed list. Disable the modifier after the encounter so later grass battles return to normal.

Progress or data looks corrupted
Stop saving over the affected file. Restore the pre-cheat in-game save, then test again with one code and a fresh state. If the problem returns, abandon that code for this ROM build; repeated writes can make recovery harder.
What “fully tested” means here
“Fully tested” describes the scope reported by the individual guides, not a universal promise. PokeCoders names Ghost Grey 1.0.4 and a specific October 6, 2026 test session across five emulator environments. RetroDodo says its listed codes were tested with mGBA on V.1.04, while also noting that numerous versions exist, some unlisted codes crashed or failed, and combinations may not work together. Those qualifications are why version matching, backups, and one-at-a-time testing are essential.
For the safest routine, use a standalone code for a single purpose, keep a clean save, and remove the cheat before ordinary exploration or story progression. The wild modifier is the exception: it needs its master and activation components while you set up the encounter, then all components should be disabled.
