What you need depends on which version you are playing. On original Game Boy Advance (GBA) copies, the official game information identifies the Game Boy Advance Wireless Adapter for wireless play. On Nintendo Switch, Mystic Ticket and Aurora Ticket are automatically added to your Key Items after you defeat the Elite Four and enter the Hall of Fame. You do not need to track down a historical event distribution for those Switch encounters.
First, identify which release you are playing
FireRed and LeafGreen have different practical answers depending on whether you are using the original GBA games or the Nintendo Switch release. The original games’ wireless-accessory information is not a requirement for the Switch ticket route.

| Original Game Boy Advance | The Pokémon product page says the GBA games shipped with a Game Boy Advance Wireless Adapter. The manual says wireless communication is only possible between FireRed and LeafGreen. Official game page; GBA instruction manual | These original-game details concern GBA wireless features. They do not establish a current Switch ticket method. |
| Nintendo Switch | The Pokémon Company says Mystic Ticket and Aurora Ticket are automatically added to the Key Items pocket after the Elite Four and Hall of Fame. Switch release announcement; HOME and ticket update | Defeat the Elite Four and enter the Hall of Fame; then check your Key Items. |
How to get Mystic Ticket and Aurora Ticket on Switch
- Progress through the game and defeat the Elite Four.
- Enter the Hall of Fame.
- Open the Key Items pocket and look for Mystic Ticket and Aurora Ticket. The Pokémon Company describes both as automatically added after these postgame milestones; no separate event download is listed in its instructions. Official ticket update
The tickets unlock the documented routes to the Lugia and Ho-Oh encounters and to Deoxys, respectively. You do not need to buy or connect a GBA Wireless Adapter to receive these Switch tickets.
What the GBA Wireless Adapter does—and does not establish
The original GBA product information identifies the Wireless Adapter as included with the GBA releases, and the manual limits wireless communication to FireRed and LeafGreen. Those details are relevant to the original hardware context. They should not be read as instructions for the Switch release or as proof that the adapter is needed for the Switch ticket encounters.

If you are playing on original GBA hardware and need an adapter, check that any used listing is authentic and in suitable condition. The cited official page says the adapter shipped with the GBA games; it does not establish current retail stock, pricing, or the condition of secondhand listings.
Does Switch FireRed and LeafGreen still have the original Mystery Gift receiver?
The Pokémon Company’s Switch release and ticket announcements document the automatic postgame ticket provision, but they do not say whether the Switch games retain the original Mystery Gift menu or wireless event-receiving behavior. The available official information therefore does not establish that a Switch player can use the original GBA event-receiver process.

PK Camp describes an unofficial custom setup for sending events to unmodified Switch games, but that is a fan project—not a Nintendo service, official distribution, or standard requirement for the postgame tickets. PK Camp

The Pokémon Company announced the Switch release for February 27, 2026, describing the games as returning as they were on GBA apart from Pokémon HOME transfer support. Its August 13, 2026 update says HOME connectivity will begin in October 2026. That announcement gives a month, not a specific connection date. Release announcement; August 13 update
