When did Pluto TV come to Canada?
Paramount Global and Corus announced in September 2022 that Pluto TV would launch in Canada on December 1. The companies confirmed the debut on launch day. The announcement described the Canadian service as part of the FAST category: free ad-supported streaming television. Pluto TV and Corus’ launch announcement
Was Pluto TV free in Canada?
Yes. The Canadian service was presented at launch as free to watch and supported by advertising. The announcement established the service’s model; it did not provide a detailed account of every viewing condition or any later changes to the service.
What was on Pluto TV at launch?
Pluto TV and Corus said the initial Canadian offer would include more than 100 curated channels and over 20,000 hours of programming. The announced genres included drama, comedy, lifestyle, kids’ programming, movies and around-the-clock news. These totals describe the December 2022 launch offer, not a current channel count or guaranteed catalogue.

Channels and programming were added after launch. For example, in May 2024 Pluto TV announced six A+E Networks channels for Canada, featuring Dance Moms, Ax Men, Duck Dynasty, Dog the Bounty Hunter, Modern Marvels and Tiny House Nation. That announcement is an example of a dated addition, not confirmation that all six remain available now. Pluto TV’s May 2024 channel announcement
How did the reported Canadian catalogue grow?
Company announcements show how Pluto TV described its scale at different points in its first two years in Canada. The figures are company-reported and should be read with their dates; they do not establish the service’s current inventory or independent auditing.

Viewing-minute figures measure reported audience activity, not the number of channels or titles available. The 2024 release’s “up to” figure is a monthly maximum, while the 40% figure compares monthly average viewing minutes year over year.
Where could viewers watch at launch?
The launch announcement listed access through the web, mobile devices and connected TVs. It did not give a complete device-by-device compatibility list, so those categories should not be treated as a current support matrix. Apple’s Canadian App Store listing confirms that a Pluto TV iOS app is listed in Canada and advertises hundreds of channels, but it does not establish the service’s complete present-day device support or channel lineup.
