The 256 GB version doubles the listed built-in capacity; Google’s US Store describes it as an upgrade for keeping more photos, videos, and apps. 128 GB is a reasonable option to consider if your current use is comfortably below that capacity and you do not expect a major change in how you use your phone. Photos, videos, apps, games, and files downloaded for offline use can all add to the amount kept on the device. If your use is already close to 128 GB, choosing the larger version gives you more built-in room rather than requiring you to regularly remove files.
When is 256 GB worth considering?
Consider 256 GB if you routinely keep a large photo or video library on your phone, install many large apps or games, or save music, films, or other media for offline use. It can also be a more comfortable choice if your existing phone is already using storage near the 128 GB mark and you expect your habits to stay similar or grow.

Whether that extra capacity is worth paying for depends on the local price difference and which versions are actually available to you. Cloud storage and built-in phone storage are different. A cloud plan may help you back up or store files online, but it does not turn a 128 GB phone into a 256 GB phone.
