Paragon Insurance Holdings announced three leadership promotions on 2 October 2026. Mike Denton becomes an executive vice president of the holding company, while Brett Papenhagen and Erik Ostgulen become senior vice presidents of Paragon Specialty Property. Papenhagen will lead PSP Custom, previously called the OT team; Ostgulen will lead PSP Select, previously called the E3 team.
Who was promoted at Paragon?
The announcement, reported by Reinsurance News on 2 October 2026, names three executives and assigns them expanded responsibilities:
- Mike Denton: Executive vice president of Paragon Insurance Holdings.
- Brett Papenhagen: Senior vice president of Paragon Specialty Property and leader of PSP Custom, formerly the OT team.
- Erik Ostgulen: Senior vice president of Paragon Specialty Property and leader of PSP Select, formerly the E3 team.
What will Mike Denton do?
Denton will continue working with the Specialty Property team and spearhead strategic initiatives across Paragon Insurance Holdings, giving his role a broader organizational scope than the two Specialty Property leadership appointments.
Who will lead PSP Custom and PSP Select?
Papenhagen will lead PSP Custom, the business previously referred to as the OT team. Ostgulen will lead PSP Select, previously known as the E3 team.

Why did Paragon expand the leadership roles?
Paragon president and co-founder Ron Mairano said the three executives had contributed significantly to the growth and success of the Specialty Property business. He described the expanded roles as recognition of their accomplishments and as positioning the team for its next stage of growth. Mairano also said the leaders would take on greater responsibilities as Paragon grows its capabilities and seeks new ways to help partners do business better. These are Paragon’s stated reasons for the promotions, not independently measured outcomes.

When do the promotions take effect?
The announcement was published on 2 October 2026, but it does not give a separate effective date for the promotions. It also does not include executive biographies or a detailed description of Paragon Specialty Property.
