The company had announced both services in beta on October 28, 2024. They address different parts of AI application security: Prompt Guard focuses on detecting prompt injection and jailbreaks, while AI Guard provides configurable detection and mitigation for content moving through AI application workflows.
What the February 2025 launch means
Pangea announced beta availability for AI Guard and Prompt Guard on October 28, 2024, then announced general availability on February 18, 2025. SecurityWeek published its report with the same date and headline. Pangea’s beta post was updated February 3, 2025, and its general-availability announcement was updated February 20, 2025. Pangea’s beta announcement and its general-availability announcement describe the two milestones; SecurityWeek’s report covers the launch.
How Prompt Guard works
Prompt Guard is intended to identify prompt injection and jailbreak attempts, including attacks introduced indirectly through contextual material such as retrieved content. Pangea describes an approach combining prompt-template understanding, heuristics, classifiers, and trained models. Its current documentation says the service can be called at several points: when processing user input, assembling context, or ingesting data.
For an application, the key is not simply receiving a detection result; it is deciding what to do with it. Pangea’s documentation says responses can include whether a threat was detected, its type, the analyzer, a confidence score from 0.00 to 1.00, and a summary. It advises applications not to proceed with a request when an injection or jailbreak is reported. The API and SDK documentation names LangChain and LlamaIndex among compatible frameworks. These details come from Pangea’s current Prompt Guard overview, accessed October 4, 2026, and may not describe every feature available at the 2024 beta launch.

How AI Guard differs
AI Guard is the broader policy layer. Rather than focusing only on malicious prompts, it uses configurable recipes, each composed of detectors and actions, to inspect content across an AI application’s data flows. Depending on the detector and recipe configuration, it can report or block content, redact or encrypt sensitive material, replace detected content, or defang it.
The documented use cases span user prompts, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) ingestion and retrieval, model responses, agent planning, tool parameters, and agent or tool outputs. Detector categories include malicious prompts and entities such as URLs, IP addresses, and domains; confidential information, personally identifiable information (PII), secrets, and keys; as well as language, code, competitor mentions, custom entities, and restricted topics. The documentation also identifies image detection and prompt-hardening features as early access; detector availability and default settings vary, so they should not be assumed to be enabled for every deployment.

Pangea’s AI Guard overview and quickstart, accessed October 4, 2026, describes sending plain text or structured messages through its API or SDK and receiving sanitized content alongside a detection report. Recipes can be tailored to a service’s use case. Activity is recorded in the project audit trail, and webhooks can be configured for detection events.
What Pangea said about detection performance
In its February 2025 general-availability announcement, Pangea claimed Prompt Guard had “over 99% efficacy” against prompt-injection attacks, including token smuggling, alternate-language attacks, and indirect prompt injection. That is a company-reported figure: the reviewed launch and product materials do not provide an independent benchmark methodology or validation, so it should not be treated as a verified comparative result.

- 【Up to 1100 Mbps VPN Speed 】 Hardware-accelerated WireGuard and OpenVPN-DCO deliver up to 1100 Mbps VPN throughput, over 3× faster than Brume 2 for smooth remote access and file transfers.
- 【Three 2.5G Ports & Multi-WAN】Tri-port 2.5GbE design with flexible WAN LAN configuration supports multi-gigabit wired setups, dual-ISP Multi-WAN and failover to keep home and SOHO networks online.
- 【Stealth VPN Obfuscation】VPN obfuscation disguises VPN traffic as regular HTTPS, helping you evade blocking, bypass restrictive networks and maintain stable, private connections.
- 【DPI protection】Deep Packet Inspection with visual dashboards blocks adult/gambling/malicious sites, while SQM and QoS prioritize gaming, calls, and video when bandwidth is tight
- 【OpenWrt & USB 3.0 Expansion】OpenWrt with 1GB DDR4 and 8GB eMMC lets you install plugins and build VPN, ad-blocking or NAS, while USB 3.0 Type‑C connects high-speed storage or 4G/5G dongles
The announcements also give two different measures for AI Guard that should not be conflated. Pangea’s October 2024 beta announcement said AI Guard had over 75 out-of-the-box classification rules. Its February 2025 general-availability announcement described coverage of over 50 types of confidential and PII information. These are differently worded, dated vendor claims and do not establish that one count replaced or directly corresponds to the other.

The right fit depends on where an application is exposed and where it can enforce policy. Review the service’s current documentation against the application’s actual architecture rather than treating “AI guardrails” as a single control.

- Threats: Determine whether the priority is direct or indirect prompt injection and jailbreaks, sensitive-data exposure, secrets, malicious URLs or domains, or other content controls.
- Control points: Map controls to user input, ingestion, retrieval and context assembly, model output, agent state, and tool calls. A detector only helps at the points where the application invokes it.
- Policy and false positives: Confirm which detectors and actions are configured, how recipes and custom entities are tuned, and what the application does with reported or blocked content. Test benign and malicious cases relevant to the service.
- Integration and operations: Check API/SDK fit and framework compatibility, then verify that audit records, webhooks, and application-side error handling support the team’s monitoring and response process.
- Evidence: Ask for the test conditions and methodology behind any efficacy figure, and distinguish vendor claims from independently validated results. The cited launch coverage does not offer an independent comparative product test.
NeMo integration status
NVIDIA’s current NeMo Guardrails documentation labels its Pangea AI Guard integration deprecated and recommends migrating to CrowdStrike AIDR. This notice applies to that documented NeMo integration; it does not establish that Pangea’s APIs, SDKs, or other deployments have been discontinued. Check the current NVIDIA NeMo Pangea integration guide if your implementation depends on that connector.
