Why Pandora says subscription prices are increasing
Pandora Support says the rate change will let the company continue investing in its personalized listening experience, including recommendations, reliability, and access to its music and podcast library. The support page also says, “We haven’t made this decision lightly, and we’re grateful for your continued support.”
That is Pandora’s explanation for the increase, not independent evidence that particular recommendations or reliability improvements have already been delivered. No named executive is quoted in the available statement. Pandora Support’s 2026 rate-change FAQ has the company’s explanation and account guidance.
When the new price appears on your bill
Pandora says the updated full-price rates apply to new subscription purchases and renewals processed on or after September 22, 2026. Existing subscribers are charged the changed rate at the next billing point for their plan—not before the current billing period ends.

For the date and amount that apply to your own account, use the rate notification you received or check your subscription settings.
What Pandora Plus and Premium cost
Pandora’s FAQ lists these full-price monthly rates for subscriptions billed through Pandora. It also continues to offer Pandora Free and says discounted Family, Student, and Military Premium plans remain available; check your account notice or subscription page for the rate and eligibility details of those plans.

These are the prices Pandora lists in its FAQ; they should not be treated as a universal price for every billing channel. Pandora says rates vary by offering, and your individual notice or subscription settings are the best guide to your charge.
Why your Apple, Google Play, Amazon, or Roku price may differ
Subscriptions billed through a third party may have different rates and must be managed through that provider. In an October 1, 2026 report, Engadget, republished by Yahoo Tech, gave these provider-specific monthly price examples:

These are examples reported by Engadget, not a complete or permanent rate card. The report says some plan types are unavailable through Amazon Appstore or Roku. Confirm the price and plan availability with the provider that bills you before changing your subscription.

Check your current plan and price
- If Pandora bills you directly, open your Pandora account settings and select Subscription to view your subscription details.
- If Apple, Google Play, or another retailer bills you, check that provider’s subscription settings and any rate-change notice it sent you.
Switch plans
Pandora says you can switch plans in account settings. A plan change takes effect at the next billing cycle. If a third party bills you, make the change through that provider instead.

Cancel
Cancel through Pandora if it bills you directly, or through the third-party provider if that provider handles your subscription. Pandora says paid features remain available through the end of the current billing period; afterward, the account returns to the free, ad-supported experience.
What to weigh before keeping or changing plans
Compare the price and features that matter to your listening rather than relying on a headline rate. Pandora’s listed tiers differ in ad-free listening, on-demand search and playback, offline access, and playlist tools. Also consider whether you use monthly or annual billing and when your next renewal falls, whether a discounted Family, Student, or Military plan applies to you, and whether Pandora’s personalized-station experience is worth the price for your needs. The cited material does not provide a neutral, complete feature-by-feature comparison with competing music services.
