That is an announced plan—not confirmation that 100,000 devices have been delivered. A possible increase to 500,000 was also discussed, but it was not a confirmed Phase IV allocation.
What does “1 lakh laptops” mean?
“1 lakh” means 100,000. At a Phase IV special committee meeting in Islamabad on May 13, 2025, Education Minister Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui chaired discussion of an initial disbursement of 100,000 laptops. The Associated Press of Pakistan reported that the number could potentially rise to 500,000 in future phases; it did not report that this larger total had been approved as a Phase IV award. Associated Press of Pakistan, May 2025
The report also said provincial representatives were involved in developing distribution standard operating procedures. It did not provide a verified count of Phase IV laptops already delivered.
Does the announcement mean 100,000 laptops have been distributed?
No. An announced initial plan is not a delivered-device count. The Prime Minister’s Youth Programme page lists 500,000 laptops distributed in 2013–2018, 100,000 distributed in 2023, and 100,000 allocated in 2024. Those are programme-wide figures; they do not establish how many laptops from the Phase IV allocation have been handed out. Prime Minister’s Youth Programme

How can students check scheme and application information?
Confirm that your institution is included
Start with the official HEC-hosted Phase IV list of eligible public-sector higher education institutions. Check the list and confirm current institution-specific information with your university or the official programme channel. The list identifies institutions; it does not by itself establish every student’s individual eligibility. HEC Phase IV institution list and student record update manual

Check an existing application’s status
The Phase IV student record update manual describes checking application status and says submitted applications proceed to verification by a departmental focal person. Follow the manual’s status-checking process, then contact your university’s relevant focal person if the record needs verification. The manual does not confirm that a new application round is open.
The available information does not establish a current application deadline or complete individual eligibility rules. Do not rely on unofficial forms or assume that submitting an application guarantees selection.

What is known about the laptops themselves?
The cited announcement and programme page do not specify a laptop model or technical specifications. There is no supported basis here for naming a brand, processor, memory, storage capacity, price, or delivery date. Students should wait for official scheme or university information rather than treating unrelated laptop listings as scheme specifications.
