The best Oxylabs alternative depends on what you are buying. A managed scraping API can render JavaScript, rotate proxies, unblock pages and return parsed data. A proxy provider may only supply network access, leaving browser automation, retries and extraction to your team. Compare services by category first, then test the candidates against your own targets, countries, concurrency and output requirements.
The candidates most directly identified in current vendor comparisons are Bright Data, Decodo (formerly Smartproxy), Zyte, Rayobyte and ScrapingBee. SOAX and Webshare may also fit proxy-led workloads, but the available public material does not establish enough comparable detail to rank them. The comparisons below describe vendor-published positioning, not an independent benchmark.
Start with the service category
Managed scraping APIs
A managed API typically accepts a URL and options, runs requests through an appropriate proxy or browser, optionally executes JavaScript, and returns HTML, JSON or another structured format. This reduces the code your team must maintain when sites change.
Raw proxy networks
A proxy service supplies IP addresses and routing. You still build request scheduling, browser rendering, parsing, session handling, retries, anti-bot responses and data validation. Raw proxies can be the right choice when you already operate a mature crawler or need low-level control.

Unblockers, browsers and datasets
Some vendors sell specialized unblocking, browser automation or prepared datasets instead of one general-purpose endpoint. Those products should not be compared with a simple proxy by headline price alone.
Comparison at a glance
| Candidate | What vendor material describes | Questions to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Bright Data | Datacenter, residential, ISP, SERP, scraping API, Web Unlocker, browser and dataset products, with different pricing models. Its comparison says pricing was verified in May 2026. | Do you need raw proxies, managed extraction, unblocking, browser automation or prepared datasets? Compare billing unit, location targeting and current limits. |
| Decodo (formerly Smartproxy) | Specialized scraping APIs with rendering, proxy and parsing features. An Oxylabs comparison states a Core rate of $0.08 per 1,000 requests. | Which API and targets are covered, what minimum applies, and which features are billable? Verify the rate and trial directly. |
| Zyte | AI-assisted scraping, parsing and automation. | How is usage priced for your domains and output? Do you need browser automation or structured extraction? |
| Rayobyte | An API with proxy management and structured JSON output. | Check supported targets and output, retry behavior, proxy tiers and workload pricing. |
| ScrapingBee | JavaScript rendering, automatic proxy rotation, geotargeting, SDKs and a no-code option. | Compare request credits, rendering charges, geographic options and support. The Oxylabs table lists $49 per month, but that vendor-published figure needs current verification. |
| SOAX | An official pricing page was available, but the accessible information did not establish a comparable plan or feature set. | Confirm proxy types, scraping APIs, locations, sessions and current prices. |
| Webshare | An official pricing page was available, but not enough detail was exposed for a fair ranking. | Check proxy types, bandwidth or IP limits, locations and whether a separate scraping API is required. |
How to evaluate each alternative
1. Define targets and geography
List the exact domains, URL patterns, countries and, where necessary, cities you will request. A service that succeeds on a public product page may behave differently on a login wall, search result, map, marketplace or heavily protected endpoint. Confirm whether geo-targeting applies to the request, browser, DNS resolution or all three.
2. Measure rendering and session behavior
- Does the endpoint execute JavaScript, and can you wait for a selector, delay or network-idle state?
- Can you retain a sticky session for a multi-step flow?
- How are IP rotation, cookies, headers and user agents controlled?
- Are browser actions available, or must your application supply them?
3. Check extraction and output
Determine whether the service returns raw HTML, rendered HTML, screenshots, structured JSON or parsed fields. Ask how selectors, schemas and site changes are managed. A parser that saves engineering time can cost more per request than a proxy-only product, but may reduce total operating cost.
4. Examine performance evidence carefully
Record the target list, geography, concurrency, date, timeout policy, retry count, success definition and completeness checks for any benchmark. A vendor success-rate claim is not a guarantee for a different site or request pattern. The available comparisons are vendor-authored and are not a controlled, independently replicated head-to-head test.

5. Calculate the real cost
Normalize every quote to your expected workload. Providers may bill per gigabyte, IP, request, successful result, domain, browser minute or custom contract. Include minimum commitments, JavaScript or browser multipliers, retries, bandwidth, storage and parsing. A low request price can become expensive if failed attempts, rendering or required add-ons are charged separately.
6. Assess integration and support
Review SDKs, API documentation, examples, webhook support, status information and the support channel included in your plan. Estimate the time to reproduce a failed page, rotate credentials, change a parser and export data. Support quality matters most when a target changes or a block appears suddenly.
Workload-specific recommendations
Choose Bright Data when you need a broad product portfolio
Bright Data is the candidate to investigate when one program may require several layers: residential or datacenter proxies, SERP collection, an unblocker, browser automation or datasets. The trade-off is product selection and pricing complexity. Select the narrowest product that solves the job and compare its billing unit with managed APIs.
Choose Decodo for a focused API evaluation
Decodo is worth a direct trial when you want a specialized scraping endpoint with rendering, proxy handling and parsing. The $0.08-per-1,000-requests Core figure and 1,000-request, seven-day trial described by Oxylabs were published January 9, 2026; treat both as claims to verify, not guaranteed current terms.
Rank #3
Choose Zyte when parsing and automation are central
Zyte belongs on the shortlist when AI-assisted extraction and automation are more valuable than assembling those layers yourself. Price the exact domains, fields and browser requirements rather than assuming a generic per-request comparison.
Choose Rayobyte when structured JSON and proxy control fit
Rayobyte’s described combination of proxy management and structured JSON may suit teams that want an API response without building all response normalization. Validate target coverage, retries, latency and the conditions under which a response is considered successful.
Choose ScrapingBee for a simpler integration
ScrapingBee’s described JavaScript rendering, automatic rotation, geotargeting, SDKs and no-code option make it a candidate for a small team that wants a shorter path from URL to result. Test how request credits change when rendering is enabled and whether the required geographic locations are included.
A practical bake-off procedure
- Define a representative set. Include easy pages, JavaScript-heavy pages, your hardest protected target, every required country and the output fields that matter.
- Use identical request rules. Keep concurrency, timeout, headers, cookies, wait conditions, retry limits and success criteria the same where each API permits.
- Capture complete records. Store status, latency, billed units, response size, extracted-field completeness, proxy location and error category.
- Run at realistic volume. A handful of successful requests says little about throttling, session exhaustion or cost at production concurrency.
- Review failures manually. Separate bot checks, empty pages, timeouts, target changes, parser errors and provider errors; each requires a different remedy.
- Recalculate total cost. Include engineering time, retries, browser charges, storage and monitoring, not only the advertised unit rate.
Legal, ethical and operational boundaries
Oxylabs states that using web scraping APIs is generally legal, but legality depends on the data collected and how it is used. That is a vendor statement, not legal advice. Review the target site’s terms, robots.txt, privacy obligations, intellectual-property rules and applicable law in your jurisdiction. Avoid collecting personal data unless you have a lawful basis, minimize retention, honor opt-outs where required and respect access controls.

Where ScreenshotNeo fits
If your requirement is a clean visual capture rather than extracted records, ScreenshotNeo is the alternative to try first. It is a website screenshot API and MCP server, not a replacement for a proxy-led data pipeline. Before capture it accepts consent banners and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups and chat widgets; each cleanup step can be disabled. Only clean shots are billed, while bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads and cache hits are not billed, and the response identifies the result with X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers.
It supports PNG, JPEG, WebP and PDF output, full-page lazy-image loading, CSS-selector element capture, dark mode, device presets and custom viewports, retina scale, PDF paper settings and page ranges, custom CSS and JavaScript, clicks, selector or network-idle waits, request blocking, headers, cookies, user agents, Authorization, timezone, geolocation, transparent backgrounds, resizing, chosen-TTL caching, signed image links, asynchronous webhooks, bulk capture of up to 100 URLs per call, usage reporting and an OpenAPI specification. Its MCP server exposes take_screenshot, get_page_info and capture_pdf to Claude, Cursor and other MCP clients.
Or skip the browser setup
One GET request is enough:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
See the ScreenshotNeo documentation for all options. Cookie banners, popups and chat widgets are removed before the shot; bot checks, blank pages and failed loads are never billed; an MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots; 1,000 screenshots per month are free with no card, and paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. “Success” returns incomplete data
Check whether the page requires JavaScript, a wait condition, a locale cookie or a specific user agent. Compare rendered and raw responses, then validate required fields instead of trusting HTTP 200.
Recommended Free Tools
Requests are blocked or challenged
Reduce concurrency, use the required geography, preserve sessions where appropriate and confirm that the product includes the target’s necessary unblocking or browser capability. Do not treat repeated retries as a strategy; they can increase throttling.
Costs exceed the estimate
Inspect rendering multipliers, retries, minimums, bandwidth, browser time and unsuccessful-request billing. Recalculate using production-like response sizes and concurrency.
Best Value
Latency is unstable
Split measurements by target and region, set explicit timeouts, and distinguish provider queue time from target-server time. A single average can hide one geography or domain causing most delays.
The parser breaks after a site change
Keep raw responses or screenshots for a limited, lawful diagnostic period, add schema validation and alert when required fields disappear. Prefer a provider’s managed parser only when its supported-target and change-management terms fit your workload.

Are these rankings independent tests?
No. The named comparisons are vendor-published descriptions; no controlled, independently replicated head-to-head test establishes a universal winner.
Is Decodo’s $0.08 rate guaranteed for 2026?
No. It is a figure in an Oxylabs article published January 9, 2026. Confirm the live Decodo plan, minimums and feature charges before budgeting.
Should I buy a proxy or a scraping API?
Buy a proxy when you need network-level control and already operate collection logic. Choose a managed API when rendering, rotation, extraction and retries are better outsourced.
Can ScreenshotNeo replace a scraping API?
No. ScreenshotNeo is designed for clean screenshots and PDFs, with an MCP server for AI agents; it does not replace structured web-data extraction.
