In December 2014, OVH reported raising $327 million through debt financing to support a broader infrastructure investment program worth more than $490 million. The package combined a revolving credit facility with private bonds; it was not an equity round. At the time, a West Coast U.S. presence and Asia-Pacific expansion were possibilities under consideration, not confirmed construction projects.

How was the $327 million structured?

Data Center Knowledge reported that OVH’s December 2014 financing comprised two debt instruments. The report supplied the detailed terms; the figures below are attributed to that contemporaneous account, rather than to a financing filing independently reviewed here.

Instrument Reported amount Reported maturity Stated role
Revolving credit facility $196 million Six years Part of the debt financing supporting OVH’s infrastructure investment program
Euro PP bonds $131 million Six, seven, and eight years Part of the same financing package

The two amounts add up to the reported $327 million. OVH said the financing would help fund an investment program exceeding $490 million, with the balance self-funded. The $490 million-plus figure describes the wider program, not the amount raised in the financing.

What was the money meant to fund?

OVH said it intended to intensify deployment of data-center and network infrastructure, support cloud customers, and enter new markets. The company’s approach at the time included building facilities and custom servers, including water-cooled systems. Infrastructure designed and built in-house can demand substantial capital: Structure Research managing director Philbert Shih described OVH’s approach as building “from the data center and infrastructure down to servers and components.”

OVH’s CFO, Nicolas Boyer, said the aim was “to become a key player in the global cloud, able to compete with the big American companies.” Data Center Knowledge also reported Boyer’s explanation that the deal diversified OVH’s funding sources and extended average debt maturity to support the next three years of development.

Which locations were only under consideration in 2014?

Data Center Knowledge reported that OVH was considering a West Coast U.S. presence and expansion in Asia Pacific. An OVH spokesperson said it was too early to communicate the long-term strategy for the new capital. The report therefore does not establish that either location had been approved or that construction was announced there.

How does the 2014 plan fit OVHcloud’s later expansion?

Later company statements document a larger footprint, but they should not be treated as proof that the 2014 financing alone caused subsequent growth.

  • 2013: In a 2026 account of its U.S. history, OVHcloud said it had secured approximately $181 million in 2013 to support U.S. data-center construction. That was a separate financing from the $327 million reported in 2014.
  • 2016: The same company history says OVH US LLC was formed in 2016 and identifies later facilities in Vint Hill, Virginia, and Hillsboro, Oregon.
  • 2024: OVHcloud said it had opened more than 12 data centers in the preceding three years and expected to reach 45 by the end of 2024. Its strategic plan also emphasized improving use of existing centers and adding locations with lower capital intensity. The 45-center figure was a target, not a confirmation that it was reached.
  • 2025: Announcing its first Italian data center, in the Milan region, OVHcloud said it had invested €1 billion in products and infrastructure since its 2021 IPO and opened ten additional data centers since 2021. These are company-reported figures.
  • 2026: OVHcloud’s U.S. history said its global footprint had grown from 20 data centers in 2016 to 46 in 2026.

What does OVHcloud report about its footprint now?

As of October 4, 2026, OVHcloud’s locations webpage listed 46 data centers in nine countries and plans for seven additional sites across Canada, Germany, Australia, Singapore, and France. These are current company webpage claims, and site counts and plans may change. The same page describes restricted badge access, 24/7 video surveillance, redundant power, generators, and water cooling as site controls.
