1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThe OQO model 02 was a compact handheld Windows PC with a 5-inch sliding display, an integrated QWERTY keyboard and a track stick. “Windows Vista Capable” did not mean every unit came with Vista: OQO’s manual describes a standard Windows XP system, while a separate retailer listing documents a Vista Ultimate configuration. Hardware and options varied by configuration.
What was the OQO model 02?
Introduced in 2007, the model 02 was an ultra-mobile personal computer designed to fit in a pocket. Slide its screen upward and a small physical keyboard is revealed; a track stick provides pointer control. Unlike a PDA limited to a mobile operating system, it ran desktop Windows. OQO described its Vista-capable model as bringing Windows capabilities to a mobile form factor, a promotional claim rather than an independent performance assessment.
OQO’s announcement gave dimensions of 142 × 84 × 25 mm and a weight of 450 g for the demonstrated configuration. Contemporary marketing also rounded the weight to one pound; dimensions and weight can vary with configuration. OQO announcement reproduced by Field Technologies Online.
Did it ship with Windows Vista?
Not necessarily. The OQO model 02 start manual identifies Windows XP as the standard operating system while calling the computer Vista-capable. Separately, B&H’s historical listing for model 1030109-US specifies Windows Vista Ultimate. These records establish that both XP and Vista configurations existed; they do not show that Vista was installed on every model 02. OQO model 02 start manual; B&H product record.

Specifications and configuration differences
There is no single specification that describes every model 02. A retailer’s Vista Ultimate example and OQO’s later product-line announcement document different configurations and options.

| B&H model 1030109-US listing | 1.5 GHz VIA C7M ULV processor; 1 GB RAM; 60 GB, 4200-rpm hard drive; 5-inch, 800 × 480 native display; Windows Vista Ultimate. Historical retailer listing, not a universal specification; B&H labels the item “No Longer Available.” Source. |
| OQO product-line announcement, September 10, 2007 | Processors up to 1.6 GHz; 40 GB entry-level and 80 GB high-end hard drives; options for a 120 GB hard drive or 32 GB flash SSD. These are announced product-line options, not one combined configuration. Announcement reproduced by Wired. |
| Wireless options | The September 2007 announcement described EV-DO Rev. A WWAN configurations for Sprint or Verizon in the United States. A March 2007 announcement described an HSDPA demonstration but explicitly said an embedded-HSDPA product was not then available for sale; a demonstration should not be read as general availability. The digital pen and carrying case were associated with orders for Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005, rather than guaranteed standard inclusions. Optional accessories were packed separately. Check a used listing’s contents instead of assuming all pictured or optional items were included. OQO model 02 start manual.
What battery life did OQO claim?
The manual rates a fully charged standard battery at 2–3 hours, depending on use, and says the optional double-capacity battery could provide up to 6 hours. These are original product claims, not a prediction for a battery that has aged for years. The standard battery is removable, but the manual does not establish that compatible replacements are currently available. OQO model 02 start manual.

What should you check before buying one today?
Historical product records cannot establish current stock, a particular unit’s condition, or present-day software suitability. Ask for evidence about the individual machine and its included parts:
- Exact configuration: request the model or part number and confirm the processor, memory, storage type and capacity, wireless module, and installed Windows edition.
- Boot and display: ask for a demonstration of a successful boot and a working screen, including the sliding mechanism.
- Keyboard and pointer: verify the built-in keyboard and track stick respond, rather than relying on exterior photos.
- Power and battery: confirm the power supply is included and ask whether the battery holds a charge. Do not treat the manual’s original runtime as expected performance today.
- Storage and software: ask whether the drive or SSD is detected and whether the desired operating system and drivers are installed. The historical sources do not establish current support or security suitability.
- Accessories: check that any advertised adapter, pen, case, dock, or spare battery is actually included and matches the unit.
A 2007 individual review reported contemporaneous complaints about accessory delays and quality-control problems. That is one reviewer’s dated account, not a measured failure rate and not evidence about the condition of a specific machine now. Pocketables review.
