To open a Microsoft Store page from a Windows app, use an ms-windows-store: URI and call Windows.System.Launcher.LaunchUriAsync. Choose the URI for the destination you need: a product page, Store search, reviews, or a built-in section. These links navigate the Store; they are not a universal way to start any installed app.
Launch a Store URI from a Windows app
Microsoft documents Store URI activation through LaunchUriAsync. In a Windows app, pass the destination URI to the launcher:

new Uri("ms-windows-store://navigatetopage/?Id=Gaming"));The Boolean value is the API call’s returned result; it should not be treated as proof that a particular page opened successfully. For general URI activation, Windows launches the default app associated with the URI scheme. If multiple apps register for a scheme, the user determines which app handles it. Choose the URI for the Store destination
These documented patterns open different Microsoft Store destinations. Replace sample values such as PRODUCT_ID and search text with the values relevant to your app.

Use ProductId for product pages
For a product detail page, Microsoft recommends the ProductId form: ms-windows-store://pdp/?ProductId=PRODUCT_ID. Microsoft marks PFN- and AppId-based product-page forms as deprecated. The Store app in Windows 10 and Windows 11 still supports them, but Microsoft warns they may not be supported in the future. See the Store URI documentation for the supported patterns.
Know the limits of Store URIs
- They navigate the Store. A Store URI opens a Store destination; it is not a general command to launch an arbitrary app already installed from the Store. To start another app, use that app’s own launch mechanism or registered URI scheme, if it provides one.
- Store sections can vary by region. Microsoft lists sections such as Home, Gaming, Entertainment, Productivity, and LOB, and notes that availability depends on region.
- Mini mode falls back to the full Store. Microsoft’s documentation says that beginning in February 2026, activations using
mode=minidefault to the standard full-page Store experience. - Use the documented launch context. Microsoft demonstrates calling the URI from Windows app code with
LaunchUriAsync. The URI patterns alone do not establish a universal Run-dialog, browser, or command-line workflow.
