OOC: The Playable Anime is an AI storytelling app where you take the protagonist’s role, type what you say or do, and get the next part of the story in response. Its Halloween 2026 campaign adds two kinds of limited-time rewards: doubled daily check-in credits in late October and, from October 29 through November 8, seven free responses in each eligible OOC Original you have not chatted with before. One naming note: “OOC” also means “out of character” in roleplay, but this article is about the app and its story and reward systems.
The key distinction for a new player is that Basic-model Character mode is free, while structured Story mode and higher-cost reply modes use Credits. Event responses are separate from those credits, so they let you sample eligible Originals without spending your balance.
What is OOC: The Playable Anime?
OOC is an AI-powered interactive story app with preset settings, characters, and opening scenarios. You play as the protagonist by entering dialogue, actions, or custom directions; the AI then writes the next beat. Depending on the story, it can also provide scene illustrations and special-ending art. OOC describes the experience as a playable anime, while GameFragger characterized it in October 2026 as a visual novel driven by conversation.
The product is available in a browser, on iOS, and on Android. OOC’s Western catalog opened in April 2026, according to a sponsored feature by Hardcore Gamer. That outlet identifies New AI Entertainment Inc. as the Western operator; GameFragger’s October 2026 Halloween coverage attributes the update to Wrtn Technologies. Those reports identify related company names, but do not establish that they are interchangeable legal entities.
The catalog figures are OOC-reported, not independent counts: CBR and Hardcore Gamer cited 52,630 stories, 58,848 characters, and 409 OOC Originals in 2026. IGN’s promotional feature described the catalog more broadly as containing more than 52,000 stories and more than 58,000 characters. The Originals are first-party stories and characters; the wider catalog also includes community-created titles.

Available story genres named in the October 2026 Halloween coverage include horror, thriller, fantasy, science fiction, action, romance, adventure, comedy, isekai, slice of life, and cyberpunk. Hardcore Gamer also reported that players can choose male-oriented, female-oriented, or both-oriented content. Adult titles are restricted to people aged 18 and older, according to OOC’s Help Center.
How do OOC interactive stories work?
Each session starts with a title or character and develops through your inputs. A story can have its own lore, cast, and starting situation, but the direction depends on the choices and prompts you enter.

- Set up your player identity if needed. Your Avatar is the profile characters use for details such as what they call you, your age, gender, and appearance.
- Enter dialogue, actions, or a direction. You can respond in character, describe an action, or provide a custom prompt to steer the scene.
- Read the AI’s continuation and choose what happens next. The model continues the narrative; some stories can generate images for relevant scenes or special moments.
- Correct continuity when necessary. OOC lets you edit or delete earlier messages so the context can reflect a corrected fact. Deleted titles and conversation histories cannot be recovered.
OOC’s Help Center describes continuity features including Memories and User Notes. User Notes can hold preferences, world-building details, and instructions for the character to remember. Add them for one title or set them globally under Session Settings → User Notes. The Play Guide is different: it is visible to you but is not remembered by the AI.
Memories have several kinds. Players can add or edit up to 100 Long-term entries. Temporary memories, Relationships, and Goals are AI-managed and cannot be edited directly; temporary entries can later move into long-term storage. A community player guide posted in August 2026 describes the model’s context as drawing on recent turns, relevant long-term memories, and other story information. That account is a community explanation, rather than an official technical specification.
For a direct instruction that should apply across a session, use User Notes. A short parenthetical direction such as “(OOC: skip ahead to the next morning)” is another player technique used in roleplay chats, but the product’s documented controls are User Notes and editing or regenerating a response. Creators can also provide up to three recommended replies; if they do not, the AI generates suggestions.
What is the difference between Story mode and Character mode?
Story mode is the more structured, credit-based route through a premise and cast. Character mode is a freer chat surface, and using the Basic model in Character mode is always free, according to IGN’s October 2026 promotional feature and a competitor guide updated in August 2026.

Mode costs are OOC Help Center examples, checked Oct 2026. They are not a guarantee that every reply will cost exactly the base amount.
Output Length sets a maximum reply length. Replies up to 800 tokens do not incur extra output-length credits; beyond that base, OOC charges extra for each additional 100 tokens. Creator-set output length is separate from the setting you choose for your own session.
A competitor’s August 2026 guide cited a top Story-mode generation cost of up to about 195 credits, higher than the Help Center’s 90-credit Superb example. That figure is not an official OOC price list; the Help Center says extra length can add costs, and the public figures may reflect different configurations. Use the in-app mode and output settings to check the cost presented for your session before sending a reply.
How do event rewards work in the Halloween 2026 campaign?
OOC’s Halloween campaign is advertised as running from October 25 through November 8, 2026. The major player rewards are doubled daily check-ins in late October and seven free story responses per eligible Original from October 29 through November 8.
Double check-in credits
IGN, CBR, and Hardcore Gamer describe double daily check-in credits for October 25–31. GameFragger, citing an OOC official notice, says the Claim Free Credits tab normally gives 300 credits per day and gives 600 per day during the event, with the bonus ending October 30 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time. GameFragger calculates that as 1,800 additional credits over a normal week.
The published end dates conflict, so do not assume the double reward is available through October 31. Check the event banner and Claim Free Credits tab in the app for the remaining eligible check-in days and the deadline shown to your account. The sources do not establish a time zone for the October 25–31 date printed by IGN, CBR, and Hardcore Gamer.
Seven free responses in eligible Originals
From October 29 through November 8, the offer gives seven free responses in each eligible OOC Original you had not chatted with before the event. Coverage by IGN, CBR, and Hardcore Gamer describes the eligibility rule as being new to that Original before the campaign; GameFragger specifies no interaction before October 25. The in-app event notice governs eligibility, and there is no stated cap on the number of eligible Originals you can try.

These are free responses, not a general credit deposit. Each one is tied to an eligible story, and a community post attributed to OOC’s moderator says the counter can appear on the story page or when you choose a mode. That post says sending, regenerating, continuing, and auto-generating a response each use one of the seven. Check the remaining counter before spending a response on a retry.

The campaign also has seasonal presentation changes, which are not extra credit rewards. GameFragger reports a “Trick or Chat” home-screen row between OOC Originals and Trending Now for stories whose creators use the Halloween hashtag, along with Halloween navigation tabs, an app icon, and launch screen through November 7 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time.
How can you get free credits in OOC?
Credits can come from check-ins, challenges, events, referrals, creator rewards, and purchases. During this campaign, the free-response promotion may be more useful than credits when you want to sample a new eligible Original, because it is tied to that story rather than added to your general balance.
- Daily check-in: GameFragger reports a normal 300-credit daily claim in October 2026, with a temporary 600-credit amount during the doubled-check-in window.
- Challenges and events: OOC’s Help Center lists challenges and events as possible credit or item sources. Event items can have their own expiration terms.
- Referral code: An October 14, 2026 post on OOC’s official community account says a person signing up with a code gets 500 free Credits. The referrer receives 5% of qualifying purchased Credits bought by that person in their first 30 days.
- Creator rewards: OOC says creators can earn rewards when others play their titles. Certified Creator terms include welcome credits and a share of credits spent on their titles; those terms are distinct from the player-facing Halloween offer.
- Purchases: Credit packs are available through OOC’s purchase channels. OOC’s Help Center notes that app-store in-app purchase prices may be higher than website prices because of store commissions.
The referral post says only purchased Credits count toward the referrer’s share; bonus credits bundled with a purchase, event credits, and coupon credits do not. Purchases are held for a review period of at least seven days, with rewards posted in a daily update. Referral reward credits expire 30 days after receipt, the monthly payout cap is 100,000 Credits, and unused overflow is not carried forward. The My Code tab does not reveal which people signed up. A separate OOC moderator post says the referred player’s 500 referral Credits are on top of 500 welcome Credits, expire three days after applying the code, and cannot be switched to another code once applied.
When do OOC credits expire, and how are they spent?
Paid credits do not expire. Free credits usually expire 30 days after they are issued, but OOC warns that certain Certified Creator credits or event items can have different deadlines. The exact expiration shown for a particular reward is more reliable than assuming every free balance has the same validity period.

OOC’s Help Center says a purchased pack can be refunded within seven days of payment only if none of its credits have been used. If you think a transaction qualifies, contact support at support@ooc.ai and retain the purchase details.
What do Stats and Endings add to a story?
Some creators build game-like progression into a title. OOC’s June 2026 product announcement says a Start Setting can include up to seven Stats and up to 10 Endings.
Stats can change as you play
A creator defines each Stat’s name, icon, color, range, and the plain-language conditions that make it rise or fall. Examples include Strength, Dexterity, and Intelligence, but creators can define custom gauges. Optional low, middle, and high levels let a story branch according to a Stat’s current value. The gauges appear at the top of the chat.

Endings can have conditions and a cost
A creator can define an Ending with a name, image, rarity (N, R, SR, or SSR), condition, card, and epilogue. Conditions can depend on a turn count, such as reaching turn 15, or a Stat threshold, such as Strength reaching 80; AND and OR combinations are also supported. When the AI decides an Ending has been reached, the session displays a notification. You can tap View Ending to reveal the card and epilogue or Continue to skip it and remain in the session.
Opening an Ending spends credits from the current chat mode just like sending a message, according to OOC’s product announcement. It is therefore an in-story reward, not the same thing as a Halloween campaign reward or a free credit deposit.

Playing and creating use different reward systems. OOC says creators can keep creations private or share them, and can earn bonus credits when other people play their content. Its Help Center lists Certified Creator welcome credits that expire after 90 days and a reward equal to 2% of credits spent on a creator’s titles, valid for one year.

A separate OOC moderator community post describes a possible cash route for selected OOC Originals: the company buys selected story rights, with a stated one-time payment of $200 for a standard Original plus 5% of paid Credits spent on that story, paid monthly in cash. The post also describes a separate Halloween-window IP call, with different terms. These are creator-contract claims from a community post, not a player reward or a guaranteed offer available to every published story.

What should you do if a title or response is blocked?
OOC has separate checks for title approval and individual responses. Adult titles are restricted to users 18 and older; if access is blocked, the Help Center says to check the age in profile settings. A title blocked under the Content Creation Policy can only be revised and resubmitted by its creator, not unblocked for an individual player by support.
A response can also be refused by a model safety filter even when the title itself is available. OOC’s Help Center names sexual content involving minors and sexual content combined with extreme violence as examples of scenes that may be filtered. For an incorrect story fact rather than a policy refusal, edit or delete the earlier message to correct the conversation context; remember that a deleted title or conversation cannot be restored.
How should a new player use the rewards?
For a player deciding where to start, the economical route is to use the campaign’s free responses on eligible OOC Originals, collect any check-in credits still shown as available, and reserve Story mode credits for titles worth continuing. For open-ended chat, Basic Character mode is the free option. Before sending longer Story-mode replies, check the selected mode and output-length setting because replies over 800 tokens can incur additional charges.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does OOC have a subscription?
An August 28, 2026 guide from the competing app ISEKAI ZERO said OOC then used credit packs rather than a subscription. That is a dated third-party account, not confirmation of OOC’s current billing options; check the app’s purchase screen for what is available now.
Can I use OOC on a computer?
Yes. OOC is available in a browser as well as through iOS and Android apps. If an event counter or reward looks different across devices, use the in-app event notice as the authority for your account’s eligibility.
Can I recover a deleted OOC story or conversation?
No recovery option is stated in OOC’s Help Center: deleted titles and conversation histories cannot be recovered. Correct an inaccurate reply by editing it rather than deleting the conversation if you need to preserve the session.
Can I change my referral code after applying it?
An OOC moderator community post says a code cannot be changed once applied. It also says the referred user’s referral credits expire three days after applying the code, so review the code before confirming signup.
