What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
First identify where the failure occurs: OneStream may not be connecting to YouTube, YouTube may not be receiving a feed, a scheduled event may not be starting, or the stream may be playing incorrectly after YouTube receives it. Check the connected account, event and upload status, stream URL and key (for encoder or Custom RTMP workflows), then network and media settings—in that order. The right fix depends on which OneStream workflow you use and what YouTube Live Control Room reports.
Identify what “not streaming” means
Before changing settings, check what you see in OneStream and YouTube Live Control Room. OneStream supports distinct ways to go live, including pre-recorded video, OneStream Studio, encoder streaming and Custom RTMP; their setup and failure points differ. OneStream’s overview of ways to go live can help identify your workflow.
- OneStream cannot connect the destination: start with the connected YouTube account and destination selection.
- YouTube does not show an incoming feed: check the event and, for encoder or Custom RTMP, the server URL and stream key.
- A scheduled stream does not start: check the event time, destination, and whether the video finished uploading and processing.
- YouTube receives a feed, but playback is wrong: check the source file, its audio and video, and whether the intended event is being monitored.
Note the exact OneStream status and YouTube warning before proceeding. Those details help distinguish a connection problem from a scheduling or playback problem.
Confirm the connected YouTube account
- In OneStream, open Social Platforms.
- Confirm that the intended YouTube account appears as connected. If it does not, use OneStream’s account-connection flow to add or reconnect YouTube.
- Verify that the connected account is the channel you intend to use. If the wrong account is connected, select or reconnect the correct one before editing the stream.
For a pre-recorded stream, OneStream’s setup instructions call for connecting YouTube and selecting the intended account and channel category before scheduling. Do not assume that a successful login means the correct channel is selected.

Check the workflow, event and schedule
Scheduled pre-recorded video
- Confirm the intended YouTube destination or event is selected.
- Check the scheduled date and time, including the time zone and whether the event is set for the time you expect.
- Make sure the upload finished and OneStream completed processing. An incomplete upload or processing step can prevent a scheduled stream from starting or playing correctly.
- Play the source file locally. If it is already missing video or audio, fix or replace the source before changing YouTube settings.
For its pre-recorded workflow, OneStream recommends MP4 with H.264 (AVC) video and AAC audio, a constant 30 or 60 frames per second, and 720p or 1080p. These are OneStream’s suggested settings, not a guarantee that every file or destination will accept every combination. Its troubleshooting page also lists video bitrate recommendations of “720p (HD): Minimum 1.5 Mbps” and “1080p (Full HD): Minimum 3 Mbps,” and recommends at least 10 Mbps upload speed, with 25 Mbps or higher described as ideal. Treat these as OneStream Help Center guidance, not independent measurements or a promise that a stream will work.
Studio or encoder feed
Confirm the intended event is open and that the workflow is actually sending a feed. If OneStream indicates it is sending but YouTube shows no incoming video, continue to the URL and key checks below. If YouTube shows an incoming feed but the picture or sound is wrong, inspect the source and encoding rather than repeatedly changing account permissions.

Custom RTMP
Custom RTMP setup uses a server URL and stream key. Compare both with the values for the intended event in YouTube Live Control Room. If you use RTMPS, make sure the configured server URL is specifically the RTMPS URL; YouTube says Live Control Room shows an ordinary RTMP URL by default. Never include a stream key in a screenshot or public support post.
Refresh the server URL and stream key when needed
- Open the intended event in YouTube Live Control Room and locate its current stream settings.
- Compare the displayed server URL and stream key with the values configured in OneStream or your encoder. Check for a value copied from a different event or an older setup.
- If you intend to use RTMPS, copy the RTMPS endpoint provided for that purpose rather than assuming the default RTMP URL is interchangeable.
- Update the destination settings, save them, and reconnect or start the feed again. Then check whether Live Control Room reports an incoming feed.
For YouTube Shorts using OneStream’s documented Custom RTMP workflow, OneStream instructs users to generate a new stream key for each new Short and update the key in OneStream before going live. That instruction applies to that Shorts workflow; it does not mean every ordinary YouTube event always requires a newly generated key.

YouTube describes RTMPS as “a secure extension to the popular RTMP streaming video protocol.” Follow the endpoint and protocol supported by your destination and encoder; switching protocols is not a universal remedy for a failed stream.
Check network stability after the destination setup
If the account, event and destination values are correct but the encoder cannot connect reliably or the feed drops, check that your upload connection can sustain the chosen bitrate. OneStream recommends Ethernet where possible for better stability. A wired connection may help with a network-instability problem, but it cannot correct a wrong account, event, stream key or unfinished media processing.

If YouTube reports “failed to connect to server — connection timed out,” use YouTube’s endpoint and connectivity checks for the selected protocol. OneStream documents RTMP, RTMPS, WHIP and SRT among its encoder-streaming protocols; the available guidance does not establish that changing to any one of them will fix every YouTube connection issue.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Separate feed receipt from playback problems
OneStream says it is sending, but YouTube shows no feed
- Verify that Live Control Room is open to the intended event.
- Recheck the server URL and stream key against that event, including whether the correct RTMP or RTMPS endpoint is configured.
- Record the exact OneStream status and YouTube connection warning. If the feed still does not appear, those details are more useful for support than a general report that streaming is broken.
YouTube receives the feed, but viewers see a blank screen, no audio or an early stop
- Play the uploaded file locally and check that it contains the expected video and audio throughout.
- Confirm OneStream finished processing the intended file and that the correct destination and event are selected.
- Review the source’s format and frame rate against OneStream’s pre-recorded recommendations, and check the YouTube event’s playback status.
OneStream’s troubleshooting guidance identifies media, scheduling, destination, network and platform issues as separate possible causes. Without the exact status and event information, there is no basis to identify one of them as the cause in a particular case.

If the standard checks do not fix it
Contact OneStream support with the workflow type, the exact OneStream status, the YouTube Live Control Room message, and whether YouTube shows an incoming feed. Include the event time and describe what you have already verified. Do not send a stream key or post it publicly. These details help narrow the failure to account authorization, event setup, ingest connection, or playback.
