Short answer: T-Mobile’s U.S. versions of the OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro, and OnePlus 8T (sold as the OnePlus 8T+ 5G) were reported to begin receiving OxygenOS 13 based on Android 13 around March 20, 2023. Verizon’s OnePlus 8 5G UW update history does not confirm an equivalent Android 13/OxygenOS 13 release. The download article associated with that report listed full carrier OTA files as “coming soon,” so it should not be treated as a source of verified T-Mobile or Verizon upgrade packages.
What happened on March 20, 2023?
AndroidSage reported that T-Mobile carrier variants of the OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro, and OnePlus 8T were beginning a delayed OxygenOS 13 rollout in the United States. The report attributed the delay to carrier restrictions and described a staged over-the-air (OTA) release rather than an immediate update for every handset. This is secondary reporting, and it does not establish one final build number for every model.

The same report’s download table said the “Full OTA” packages were still “coming soon.” Its linked rollback files are downgrade resources, not proof that a carrier Android 13 upgrade package was available.

Carrier and model status
| Device or firmware channel | Android 13/OxygenOS 13 status | Safest update route |
|---|---|---|
| T-Mobile OnePlus 8 | Reported receiving the T-Mobile rollout around March 20, 2023; exact model-specific final build not established here. | Use the phone’s own OTA updater. |
| T-Mobile OnePlus 8 Pro | Reported receiving the T-Mobile rollout around March 20, 2023; exact model-specific final build not established here. | Use the phone’s own OTA updater. |
| T-Mobile OnePlus 8T+ 5G | Reported receiving the T-Mobile rollout around March 20, 2023. | Use the phone’s own OTA updater. |
| Verizon OnePlus 8 5G UW | Not confirmed by Verizon’s published update history as an Android 13/OxygenOS 13 release. | Follow Verizon’s update notices; do not infer Android 13 from a carrier release number. |
| Factory-unlocked North American OnePlus 8/8 Pro | OnePlus published separate North American OxygenOS 13 builds, including F.15, F.62 and F.64, followed by a North American OxygenOS 13.1 rollout. | Use the unlocked North American OTA channel, not a carrier package. |
| Sprint-branded or migrated devices | Legacy Sprint/T-Mobile software paths can differ from both unlocked and current T-Mobile channels. | Match the exact model and installed software channel before doing anything manually. |
A T-Mobile SIM does not prove that a phone has T-Mobile firmware, and carrier-unlocking a T-Mobile handset does not convert it into the factory-unlocked North American model. Model number, bootloader state, partitions, modem configuration and carrier approval all matter.

T-Mobile: what is actually supported?
The strongest evidence supports a T-Mobile U.S. rollout for all three listed families: OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro and OnePlus 8T/8T+. AndroidSage’s March 20, 2023 report is the clearest contemporaneous account, but it is not a surviving T-Mobile or OnePlus carrier bulletin. Because the release was staged, eligible phones could receive the notification at different times.
T-Mobile explains that software moves through manufacturer development, carrier testing and final approval before release. Its current device catalog includes the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8T+ 5G. See T-Mobile’s software-update process and device catalog.
Verizon: why the Android 13 claim is unverified
Verizon’s official OnePlus 8 5G UW history lists:
- “System Update 13” on August 31, 2022, with the August 2022 security patch;
- “System Update 14” on November 3, 2022; and
- “System Update 15” on April 18, 2023, with February 2023 security patches and version IN2019_15_230323.
Those are Verizon carrier release numbers. Verizon’s page does not identify any of them as Android 13 or OxygenOS 13. Therefore, the precise conclusion is that Verizon’s published record does not confirm an Android 13 rollout; it is too strong to say that Verizon definitely never released one without additional device-specific evidence.

How to check for the official OTA
- Connect the phone to Wi-Fi and ensure adequate battery charge.
- Back up important photos, messages and authenticator data.
- Open Settings.
- Tap About device or About phone.
- Select Software update.
- Check for updates, review the displayed version and install only the package offered for that device.
- After reboot, allow time for app optimization and background downloads before judging battery or performance.
Verizon likewise recommends Wi-Fi or a strong Verizon connection and a fully charged battery before updating.

Do not treat a generic North American OxygenOS ZIP as interchangeable with T-Mobile or Verizon firmware. The original carrier article did not provide verified full OTA packages; it said those files were forthcoming. A rollback package is for reverting software and may erase data or leave the phone on an older, unsupported security level.
Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteWindows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallBefore considering any manual installation, verify:
- Exact model name and model number.
- Carrier branding: factory-unlocked, T-Mobile, Sprint or Verizon.
- Current OxygenOS and Android versions.
- Bootloader and root status.
- Region and firmware channel.
- Available storage, backup and battery level.
An incorrect package can be rejected or cause boot failure, data loss, missing VoLTE/5G or SIM problems, camera issues, and broken future updates. Avoid random firmware mirrors and repackaged files. If a modified phone no longer receives OTA updates, restore stock software only through a verified, device-specific procedure.
Common problems and responses
No update appears
The rollout may be staged, your phone may use another firmware channel, or carrier approval may not apply to your model. Confirm the model and current software before attempting anything else.
“Verification failed” or package rejected
This usually indicates a model, region, build-channel or system-modification mismatch. Do not bypass the check with an unrelated ZIP.

Battery drain after installation
Give the phone several hours, sometimes a full day, for app optimization and background indexing before treating the change as permanent.
Carrier functions disappear
Flashing the wrong channel can affect modem features, VoLTE, 5G or SIM operation. Restore the correct carrier firmware or contact the carrier or OnePlus rather than repeatedly trying other packages.
Bottom line
T-Mobile’s OnePlus 8, 8 Pro and 8T/8T+ were reported to receive Android 13/OxygenOS 13 in the United States around March 20, 2023. Verizon’s official OnePlus 8 5G UW history does not confirm the same release, and “System Update 13” is not an Android-version number. Use the phone’s OTA updater, identify the exact firmware channel, and do not assume that unlocked, T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon packages can be exchanged safely.
